The one with the studio lighting flatters it so much more than the others! The stripes look so good, and the paws are really lovely.

I wanna see a calico griffin now. >.>

Ooooh, I tried one of those a while ago…it was HORRIBLE!! But I need to try again.

You should! Dern it, I should send you a pic of my kitteh. She’s a calico/stripey/pudgy thing, and her colorations would work good on a griffin.

There is irridecent paint mixed into almost every color, so he has an all around subtle shimmer. But his claws, beak and wings are very shiny. I’ve put pics in different lighting below – the ones in natural light show his true colorations better, but the others show a lot of details and his shiny finish a lot better.

WOW Arlla! I love his colors!
You did a wonderful job. What brand of paint did you use? And what is the name of the colors you used? Just beautiful!

Heh…the problem is, I mix most of my own colors…and then of course don’t write them down…which makes it very difficult to share! I very rarely just use a color straight out of the tube…But the lightest of the tans is probably “buttercrunch” and the darkest of the browns “Van Dyke brown.” Everything in between is a mixture of about 4 browns, gray and gold.
This one was done mostly in “Folk Art” craft paints… I know Golden is the best, and I have actually mixed Golden’s Gold Metallic paint into most of the color used on this guy, but I tend to have a lot of good results with cheapie craft paint.
