October 19, 2010 at 10:17 pm #828808Oh, that Old Warrior is lovely! π I would love a dragon in that color! I like dead leaf season! π
Hurray for Olimpia getting the red paint to work again! Red paint is tricky. When it works, it works well, but it’s trickier than most other paints, automotive included (deep candy apple red is one of my favorite automotive colors, but it’s expensive and has to be done just right or start over/pick another color. What was the issue with the red that was causing all the fuss? Was it an application issue, environmental issue, combination of several things conspiring against red dragons?

You know … I think Melody provided that information about a month ago when she was answering the “Ruby Oriental Sun Dragon” question. At least, she talked about the problem with the original red [automotive] paint and the manufacturer changing the formula without notice.October 19, 2010 at 11:01 pm #828810etruscan wrote:siberakh1 wrote:Oh, that Old Warrior is lovely! π I would love a dragon in that color! I’m wondering what she did differently that made the difference.
October 19, 2010 at 11:20 pm #828811Me too. I don’t know why red is so tricky (it sounds like you do) but after reading about all the past problems I was wondering if a “good” red was an impossible goal.
October 20, 2010 at 12:34 pm #828812Getting red to come out right in ceramic pieces is tricky too.Good luck and I really hope so.I am a big fan of the Rubies. π

If the red paint isn’t mixed withthe right additives it fades and bleeds.. that is the problem I was having with the red paint I m ixed. Olimpia mixed a fresh batch , with new paints( I was using old paint that had been sitting around)and it seems to work fine.
October 29, 2010 at 6:31 am #828814Soooo any chance red fire may not need to be retired or can come back? or is it too late for that color combo? There are still a few red fire pieces I would love to have as I have the money but with the way they are disappearing I don’t think i’ll get the chance to get them π

October 29, 2010 at 8:46 pm #828816Yes, I’d love that color to be resurrected from retirement. Even if just to LP. I think a RF coiled mother would be neat π
