Well, all his details are in, just need to wait for the last bit of AS to finish setting up so I do a little sanding, then off to be repainted.
I am so glad Melody sent me the right color paints for the emeralds…I just wish I had thought to ask for the golds and coppers for the fur bits, but I think I can match those on my own.
I’m pretty pleased with him so far, I think finding the breaks on this one is going to be really hard.
In a lot of ways, the sun dragon is a lot more accessible overall than other sculpts, which makes replacing details a bit easier, since there are few hard to get to areas on this sculpt.

I must say Kyrin that I admire your patience and courage when it comes to fixing stuff. You are really good at what you do! 😀
February 18, 2008 at 12:04 am #648820Edited teh title to fit the new job- and Kyrin, he looks AWESOME as usual! As bad as he was, I had my doubts he could ever look like anything but Frankenstein, glad he ended up with you!
February 18, 2008 at 12:24 am #648821Holy crap. If my mothers cats broke any of my Windstones they would either be taking a trip to the pound, or dead. Blargh. There’s no excuse for that. Cats are evil. *twitch*
Not trying to get in a fight with anyone, that’s just my opinion. My mothers cats love to destroy things too, but they’re not allowed in my room so they can’t get to my Windstones thankfully. They’ve broken SO many things in the house it’s not even funny. It’s true that you can’t have nice things in a house with cats.
Those dragons look great now that they’re fixed though. Kyrin does an amazing job. :3

I beg to differ. I have 8 cats and a house full of beautiful things, including lots of glassware. My cats are no more evil or destructive than myself, my husband or my kids. Sometimes accidents happen. If your mother’s cats haven’t been properly trained, it’s not their fault.
February 18, 2008 at 12:43 am #648823Well. My mothers cats ARE evil, I don’t care what anyone says. You would have to live with them to understand. These cats actually LOOK for things to break. My father agrees with me 100%.
*shuts up before she gets any more upset than she already is*
Sorry.
February 18, 2008 at 12:54 am #648824I’m not upset and I don’t know why you should be either (not sure which one of us you were talking about). We are just two adults having a discussion. Your mom’s cats are one thing….my cats are another.
If they are as bad as you say, I’m sorry for all involved. Your mother sounds like she shouldn’t be responsible for caring for any living thing. It seems she just doesn’t have the skills. 🙁
February 18, 2008 at 1:02 am #648825You’re right about that. She doesn’t even take care of herself half the time. She makes my father drive her everywhere cause she refuses to (though she does have a licence). But yeah, our cats are horrible, not trained at all. I wouldn’t know how to even attempt to train them. They don’t listen to a word anyone says, and treats don’t work at all. They just do what they want…

I’d start with getting a small water bottle with a spray nozzle. Saying ‘no’ in a calm, yet firm voice when they do something wrong, followed by a quick squirt of water will make even an untrained cat pause, and if you continue to be gentle, yet firm about it, will stop most destructive behavior. 🙂
I’ve had many cats over the years, and they know to not play or walk in and out where the “sparklies” are by us simple telling them NO from day one.
I’d also make sure they have some place where they CAN play, claw and scamper– cats enjoy doing just that, and it is always a good thing to give them a “good” place to play with one another. 😀
Hope this helps!

Hang on to your hat, lady. In a little bit I’ll be posting a picture of him in the partial repaint stage. He definatley will look patchwork briefly, but not Frankensteinish.
Okay, so he’s being a PITA, the previous coat of sealer is giving me some big headaches, so at this point, a picture will be going up after he’s all done, sometime tomorrow or Tuesday.

February 18, 2008 at 8:56 am #648828I would strangle a cat. Repairs look really great. 🙂
February 18, 2008 at 11:38 am #648829😀 Kyrin, which glue do you use to repair these. All the glue I’ve used don’t do the trick. 🙁

What glue do you use?
I use the Instant Krazy Glue with the brush, great stuff and really excellent coverage control, and it goes on purple and dries clear, so I know where I put it.
I haven’t tried Elmers for anything but the gems.

February 20, 2008 at 2:09 am #648831Looking at all the broken pieces my mom handed to me made me think he was Frankenstein! After seeing what you did with my hatching emp (and the pics of ‘Faceless’), I have more respect for your talent. I know he’ll be beautiful when he’s done!

I hope you like him, he’s being a pill…but I am pretty sure he will look pretty good when I am done, he’s taking longer than I expected, doesn’t help that my workroom is a freezer and paint is slow to dry.
