I’m turning (as much as possible) this thread over to Kyrin. She has a special project planned with the recalcitrant sun dragon. Start on page 4 when she’s ready to show it off!
One of my mother’s cats (finaces on all ends- hers, mine and his- force sharing incomes, so yep I’m at home right now) climbed up onto the 7 foot tall bookcase I had my dragons on, and knocked off my hatching emperor and empress. She tried to hide it, knowing I’d go homicidal, and had my fiance glue the not-too-horribly damaged empress back together, but the emperor was a lost cause. When I noticed him missing and my fiance showed me where he was hidden, I was ill. It’s not like I’d be able to replace him! And after having had Windstones for almost 22 years now without so much as a chip, this is the 2nd time in 6 weeks that I have had one destroyed. (the 1st was my young dragon my daughter knocked off with a ball, but I was able to replace him- and she had the courtesy to be upset about what she did) Needless to say, all my Windstones are now safely packed away in the garage until I can get out of here, and the very talented Kyrin has generously agreed to take on the repairs. I’ll post the ‘before’ pics, and let Kyrin have the stage now.
Ouch! Half his head was sheared off.
poor guy!
At least my fiance was able to save a good bit of the lost parts (he was called in to do the cleanup)
The empress had her head cleany broken off; he glued it on, and this is the worst of the resulting seam.
This is the worst remaining damage on her. Weird how this impression was left in her egg.December 19, 2007 at 10:57 pm #648775I’m soo sorry to hear about your loss
December 19, 2007 at 11:01 pm #648776I’m sorry you are living with destructo-cats, pip. That poor emperor’s head… it makes me sick just to look at it. I know Kyrin will do a great job fixing it up.
December 20, 2007 at 2:53 am #648777So far his face is back together. But that’s as far as i’ve gotten. I also need to break off a piece that was glued before I got him, and reset it.
I hate to do it, but I would have to really resculpt that whole section to get it to look right if I don’t.
Folks, if you decide to have something repaired, do me a favor and let me be the one to glue it, it’s easier for me.
I’ll post some in progress pics tomorrow.

I have a Hatching Green Emperor that has some minor mouth damage. The damage is inside his mouth, so it isn’t noticeable. I plan to send him to Kyrin to get repaired. His egg is a little stained from being in a smoking home. Other than that, he is gorgeous.
If I can find a mint one, I would be happy to sell this guy to you, for what I bought him for, plus repairs. I got a great deal on him.
I can let you know when I get a mint one. If you are interested, let me know!
Sorry about your babies 🙁
December 21, 2007 at 12:36 pm #648779I’m sorry, pip. I’m glad there are folks like Kyrin here who can do repairs.
December 21, 2007 at 1:05 pm #648780Oh, that’s awful!! He looks so pitiful with half his face gone! Sooo glad you’re working on him Kyrin, your restoring work is awesome! 😀

Here is the male after I’ve repaired him, but not painted him yet.
He isn’t perfect, but I’d say he looks pretty good. If you look at him really close with scrutiny, you will be able to tell he was once broken, but from your usual distance with him in a curio cabinet, you can’t.
Pictures with him painted are forthcoming.

January 2, 2008 at 12:47 am #648784Here he is painted. I just need to do some painting on his egg, but I am going to wait until I have his sister done, as she needs shell work too, and mixing the color once is more than enough aggravation for me.
Overall I am pleased with him, but I also look at the known flaws and cringe, I may break down and find some really fine sandpaper later and fix them, I suspect it’s gonna bug me, but I need to make a trip to the art store first.
