Before I start with the finished kirin, I wanted to share my green rock unicorn. This one’s giving me a real hard time! But I’m stubborn, so eventually, it will see my way 😀
Now for the kirin!
This is a surprise gift for a forum member. I’m hoping that I did a good enough job that she will recognize the kirin for what it is. If someone else figures it out before her, shhhhh! 😈
The flash made the red on the side scales look pinkish; it’s not, it’s engine red. The belly is a metallic ruby red. I was just too excited to be done to wait for daylight. Once the owner comes forth, she can tell me if she wants the fur antiqued/drybrushed, or not.
Here’s the brocade kirin.

Actually, it’s coats and coats and coats of the stuff… that particular gold shade is sooooo light!
Thanks everyone!

April 29, 2010 at 2:06 pm #813268I love the green rock unicorn and that Kirin is darling. Markings are always a headache for me to get looking good. Great job!
April 30, 2010 at 2:35 am #813269That’s awesome! It reminds me of the Venetian Griffin you painted for me! 😀 I love the Uni too! 8)
April 30, 2010 at 8:02 pm #813270They are both very nice 🙂 I’m digging the green uni and I love the design on the kirin and how it’s not symmetrical on each side.
May 1, 2010 at 8:15 pm #813271Okay, now I’m getting nervous… the intended owner hasn’t commented or anything yet, so now, I’m not sure if it clicked! 😮

Wouldn’t happen to be bright gold by Liquitex would it? 😆 That stuff is hard to get thick enough to not be able to see through, yet thin enough to not leave tons of brushstrokes. 😈 -
