That’s crazy cool. If you do get pictures, post ’em! π This doesn’t happen every day, huh? (Probably a good thing)

pretty much, as long as you catch them when they surface. they can stay under water for more then an hour when swimming. of course with the baby it is probly less. at the moment they are giving a good show in sacramento.

well this time of year is thier migration back to alaska. it could have been that they were folowing some food that happend to turn into the bay…then tried to continue north. they eat small fish like mackrel as well as plankton.
May 17, 2007 at 1:18 am #577773I hope they get back on track I remember how difficult it was to get Humphrey back on track. They had to stop cars from going over bridges becasue it was scaring him and he would not swim out

I remember that one. I felt really sorry for the poor thing.
May 23, 2007 at 8:27 am #577778I was able to see the Mum and her calf today, although it was a bit sad for me. they certianly are not doing well, both started thrashing thier tails in a big display and slaping the water with thier pectoral fins. I got some photos although they are REALLY bad. my camera is just a point and shoot. It is hard to get good photos with out a tripod. I might go back tomorow. here are the crumby photos.
