So I’m sitting at the computer when the hubby, who had just walked outside comes running in saying “Honey! Go look on the road QUICK!” So I jump up and catch some movement. There is a bobcat walking down the road in broad daylight! She was just strolling along. I started meowing to her with kitten noises while the husband fumbles with finding the camera and getting the disc in.
She just stood there the whole while listening to me “talking” to her. Steve finally comes out and snaps two pictures. She had enough and jumped into the brush when he repositioned for a better shot.
Our neighbors had been telling us for a while that they had seen a bobcat and that she liked to walk down the road. We thought, ‘sure, probably just a short-tailed tabby’. They also said that they had seen her with a kitten earlier in the year. I guess they knew what they were talking about after all.
We live in a somewhat rural area but there are houses all around. It is cool to think we have a breeding population of bobcats here.
That’s awesome and she’s beautiful! Presence of bobcats has to be a good thing!
