I recall seeing somewhere that the Blue Morpho coloring on the Baby Dragons was being changed slightly to make it easier to produce. Did this happen with the restock of them today?
If so, does anyone have the old store picture saved? I am curious what the differences are!

And there is a huge, visible difference. The re-stock is still gorgeous, however.

Yes, I think the latest batch is slightly simplified.
The main differences are that the new version lacks black trim on the inner wing webs, and lacks the very darkest blue color. This change makes them both simpler to paint and makes them brighter looking too.August 12, 2014 at 11:55 pm #917419August 13, 2014 at 12:21 am #917420hmm, old one looks better to me, the newer one just seems blah in comparison, new one lacks something I can’t put my finger on….
4 things I'm looking for:
1. Mother Meerkat
2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinAugust 13, 2014 at 12:29 am #917421I like both of them so will get one of these and fledgling as soon as I am able to. The only thing I am wondering is if the baby will match the fledgling as well as the first version? The main difference I notice on the old one and the fledgling is they have black around the eye and the black lining the back of the front leg which I like as it adds contrast. Any chance rainbow babies will come out next?
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

I really like the new one, I’m just really partial to the black marking around the eye and miss it in the new stock. Oh well, I know how hard the Windstone team works.

Sadly, I will have to pass on the new version. I will have to make a wanted ad for one of the first-runs. The new ones look too naked in comparison, especially without the black around the eye 🙁

Though the new one is lovely The eye is what’s bothering me more then the wing webs and other details. I’m going to have to pass too for now. I’ll be offering my Grab Bag Pebble fox towards a trade for the old version if someone who has one prefers this brighter version.

Cause if it is, I’ll be highly disappointed, as I LOVE the darker colors on them… I can tell you I’m with the group who would MUCH rather have a 1st gen baby than this 2nd gen… and I’ll feel the same with ALL of the pieces.
People have a ton of choices for bright colored dragons, but what about those who like a bit of dark on their pieces? We get BVP n the like, which is a lot of plain black that swallows up the details on a Windstone (Metallic black would be nice to at least catch light and accent the detail). A while back I bought a BVP, and promptly sold the BVP because I wanted to see the detail. These morpho’s really show off a dragons details! It rapidly became my favorite color, even over my childhood favorite of Peacock…August 13, 2014 at 8:38 pm #917468Ok, I have decided not to change the Blue Morpho color on the other dragons much at all, maybe just a tad less of the darkest blue shade on them.
We painted a sample Male dragon with only the two shades of blue and I decided it just doesn’t match the family well enough, though it looks nice.
So back to the original. I’ll do the next batch of babies with more black around the eye.August 13, 2014 at 9:17 pm #917470Ok, I have decided not to change the Blue Morpho color on the other dragons much at all, maybe just a tad less of the darkest blue shade on them.

I'd still be sad to see less dark blue, but could probably handle it with the black still intact.
Having no idea how your paints work together, is there such a thing as lightening up use of the mid tone blue and maybe the light blue and dark blue will create a mid tone effect? or is that a bigger pain to work with?August 13, 2014 at 10:51 pm #917474So back to the original.
