Thanks for the advice, Water! That’s encouraging…ebay is scary because it’s so unpredictable, but you really manage to pull amazing prices for your work! I think you are right in that putting a steady stream of pieces up helps – I try to paint a lot, but I’m not sure I could keep up! I usually put in 6-8 hours of painting a day, sometimes more if I’m feeling super motivated, but they still take me days to finish…I think I’ll have better luck with the dragons. those seem pretty quick and easy to paint, and more people like dragons than anything else! I don’t know how many more griffins I’ll be putting up, though. 🙁 Those are way to much work to let go for under $100…I could put a reserve up, but that seems to discourage some people from bidding….

-J R R TolkienJanuary 31, 2007 at 5:10 pm #534158It can be discouraging but as an artist you SHOULD make what you want for your work. I’m very impressed with buyers as of late, who are willing to spend the money on these original paint jobs. Look at ebay right now! The dragons and such re going for very nice rates already with several days left to go. You never know though, what people will like most in terms of color though, and that’s both a good and bad thing because someone will make $50 on something, and another person $300; it’s all a matter of taste, but it’s a good thing because you don’t have to fear posting an item along with someone elses because buyers will go for whichever one is their favorite color anyway.

-J R R TolkienFebruary 6, 2007 at 3:10 pm #534162Aw MAN! I wish I had the money to bid on this guy! I’ve been wanting a PYO wolfie for a while but I can’t even afford to buy one just for myself to paint. 😡 Poorpoorpoor.
I love this guy! As the others said, the wings are just perfect! They look just like a blue jay’s wings! And the face is so schweet. ^.^
I love your PYOs, Arlla, don’t ever get discouraged if they don’t sell, eBay is just kinda stupid. XD

Water – I used to use antiquing medium, but I’m just really starting to like plain ol’ water more. With this one I didn’t even sponge it off – I just let really watered down paint seem into all the cracks. I removed any excess with my brush. I’m going to try antiquing medium again on my next one, I think, but I seemed to do better with water on this one.
I’m just terrified that if I list it on ebay it won’t even break $100. 🙁 You have great luck on ebay, Water, but I don’t often have that kind of luck! Not that I’ve sold many…I think I will end up listing it though. I need the funds…
See? Isn’t it just just doing that with the water? That’s how I blend too. I LOVE THIS WOLFIE SO MUCH!!

-J R R TolkienFebruary 10, 2007 at 10:51 am #534165GAHH! I just realized all my picture links on this auction were dead! I don’t even know how many days they’ve been like that…argh!! I wonder if that’s why the high bidder retracted their bid…
