Here’s my first PYO wolf… these guys are so adorable!! I love the way Melody carved them…their fur just looks touchable! And their sweet little faces are a lot of fun to paint.

I’m not sure if the wings totally go with the rest of the wolf, but I’m mostly hapy with it. There’s a little blue interference on the fur of his shoulders and neck and on his wings.

I modeled the wolf’s colors off a picture I found of a sled dog…It must have been a cross, because it sure looked wolfy to me!

I’m not sure if I should keep this guy or sell him…

Well, she said all the wolves she sculpts end up looking like her dog, so I’ll bet there is a lot of her love in them! ^_^
Thanks for the compliments!! I can’t say I have much patience for the wing markings either 😳 but I like the way they look when I’m done, so I suffer through it! LOL!

Beautiful!!! Looks just like the blue jays in my backyard!!!! 😯

It looks amazing. I’d personally not sell it if I had gone through that trouble on those wings. You blend so well and you guys all seem to antique so much better too. Do you use an antique medium to do that stuff? If you do sell it I hope you get a lot for it to cover all the patience you put in. I especially like the wing shading with the blue/grey just as much as the beack sides of the feathers.

OH MY GOD!!! I love it sooo much! It’s amazing! Absolutly perfect….

Yes, I agree. I love the wings. I love how the white is in there and I love the markings.

LOL And the wings were the part I was unsure about! ^_^ I guess they turuned out alright!

Water – I used to use antiquing medium, but I’m just really starting to like plain ol’ water more. With this one I didn’t even sponge it off – I just let really watered down paint seem into all the cracks. I removed any excess with my brush. I’m going to try antiquing medium again on my next one, I think, but I seemed to do better with water on this one.

I’m just terrified that if I list it on ebay it won’t even break $100. πŸ™ You have great luck on ebay, Water, but I don’t often have that kind of luck! Not that I’ve sold many…I think I will end up listing it though. I need the funds…

I use water all the time to antique…sometimes it works well…othertimes not so much…I have yet to find the ideal balance.

Your PYOs need to go for more, true, and I think they will. It’s a matter of right timing, and I guess I’ve been kinda lucky that way…but it’s all about what people like when they see it, and not always original concepts of color like you’d imagine. Sometimes something will go high you’d never expect, and othertimes you’ll expect a lot but not get much at all. You just never know what people will want, really. But the more you are on ebay, the more your work and name are seen, and a name does help, and so do many samples. I am trying to keep a constant flow going…it helps generate commissions but also gets my work out there to people off the forum.

I would personally guess your wolf WOULD get at least $100…you can always post a reserve on it if you really don’t want to let it go though. It’s never easy to let something go. For me if I don’t let it go a couple days or sooner after painting it I have an even harder time.

It also takes time to build up to a certain selling point. Remember all the commission auctions I had in the beginning? A couple ent for really high prices and the rest went for just the price of the sculpture. You just never know what will happen, so be sure if you list your wolf, you are sure it’s what you want to do and maybe put a reserve on.

LOL! ^_^ I’m really glad you like it! But, um, no, I’m afraid you’ll have to look at it from here. 😈
