Just saw this on DA, and this looks like NEITHER BEP or BVP to me. I have both of them and this is a beautiful mxture of the two of them *nods* So yea, Black Violet Emerald Peacock is probably the most accurate to describe it…. LOL! Pure GENIUS if you ask me! The best of both colors all in one *SQUEE*
I hope they replace Black and Gold with this, but yea, shorten the name up. *thumbs up* I’d just call it “Grackle” plain and simple. It doesn’t look like the Grackle test paints but so what. That’s why they were test paints… Really, I don’t care what it’s called. I just want me some! *grin* Can’t wait to see it in production on some different sculptures! Mainly excited for Fledgies and the Spectrals <3

We get Northern Lights that are mostly blues and greens with hints of reds and purples against the black sky up here so I think that name would be perfect! :bigsmile:January 6, 2012 at 7:38 pm #868398He is pretty, but I only have room for one OW, so I’m going to keep my ruby. I’m not sure why, but I’m not a huge fan of the black based color schemes.
Though, a curlie in this would be cool. Or maybe a fledgie.
January 6, 2012 at 7:54 pm #868400I would like to see this color as a new production color.
Too bad the eyes are blue though.January 6, 2012 at 7:55 pm #868401I would like to see this color as a new production color.
Too bad the eyes are blue though.Yeah, the eye color is my least favorite part. Oh well…
January 6, 2012 at 8:18 pm #868405I just got to see our archive sample of the BVP lap dragon. It actually has nearly as much green on it as the new BVP OW’s, so they match pretty close. The only thing that’s really different is that the lap doesn’t have any gold/yellow. Did the BVP laps we shipped not have green? Sometimes our archive samples end up being a little “special”.

January 7, 2012 at 12:35 am #868443Ok, I like the “rainbow” effect! Mmm-hmm! I can haz a fledgie please?

^ This! When when when when?
Also, is it only the OW or are there others in the works?
Mmmmm so pretty, can’t frickin’ wait!
January 7, 2012 at 1:57 am #868450Go check out the Blog, Melody’s asking what do we call the new color.
Now’s the time to speak up!
January 7, 2012 at 1:58 am #868451These Old Warriors are still at the beauty parlor (with little shower caps on). Hopefully ready for the store early next week. We’ll send out an announcement to let you know when they’ll go up for sale – so make sure you are signed up for that (see the top of the home page of the “store” for email announcement sign up). I am not considering this a restock of BVP because it’s too different, so we will send an announcement, however Pam has convinced me that it’s closer to BVP than to BEP because of the color sequence – look at the photos in the blog. I think we should give it a new name. Please keep suggesting them! And see Melody’s Blog for more info on the color.
January 7, 2012 at 3:50 am #868466This is my post from the blog:
Why not just call him BVP? He doesn’t match the proto BEP or BVP OW’s, but he is almost an exact match to the BVP Lap (except he has gold added to his wings). Other colors have evolved in similar, and even more drastic ways, but still kept their name. The first Copper Patina dragons looked a lot different from current ones. There are variations in Rainbow dragons, Gold, and Peacock dragons, Silver Grulla unicorns, and lots of others, which came about as the colors were improved or the painters changed. I think this OW is just way too close to the BVP Lap to call him another color. If anything, call it BVP ver2 (if you want to continue making BVP dragons that dont have gold added). Several LP colors have a “ver 2”.The problem is this.. Suppose we did give it a new name, like “Northern Lights”. Then we decide to paint “Northern Light” Lap dragons. They would look the same as BVP Laps except for having gold and emerald at the top of the wing instead of just emerald. Or perhaps we would decide to make more BVP OW’s. Would they follow the color scheme of the first BVP Laps (thus making them look almost the same as Northern Light) or would they follow the colors of the BVP proto OW’s? If the latter, what would future BVP Laps look like? Would they look like the originals, or would they follow the colors of the BVP proto OW’s?
January 7, 2012 at 4:18 am #868474Well, we have run into that problem a lot already. There are like 2 or 3 variations on Ruby, 2 variations on Peacock, and Jade vs Emerald. I hear you there Pam. I don’t really care what it’s called to be honest. I just want them in my house ^_^
I’d have to agree it’s closer to the BVP then the BEP though. *nods* Just because of the directional order the color is placed in on the sculpture.

Then there wouldn’t be any confusion as to which Black Violet Emerald Peacock dragon it is. There aren’t enough green eyed dragons IMO.
