Sorry to start a new thread for this little question…
What color black does the factory use for their pieces? I bought Golden Carbon black, but it seems much glossier than the touch-up paint I received from the factory. Thanks for your time: -)
April 25, 2007 at 1:27 pm #566412Actually I’d like to know as well and if the same black that is used on the pieces today is the same that was used on the black unicorn family when they were in production.
My male could really use some touching up from where I had to reassemble his tail from when he broke in shipping.

I had to touch up mine….I used Duncan black…then semigloss sealer….it matched perfect
you’d think they were all still brand new…even after a glass picture fell on the male.. 😯

Not to sound stupid, but is Duncan black a brand of paint or a particular shade of black paint produced by some manufacturer?
April 25, 2007 at 6:05 pm #566417I was sent touch up paint to fix my large wizard. I used the black to touch up my mama unicorn and it matched perfectly. It took the interference paint on the wizard like a charm. When I try to use interference on the glossier Carbon black, it is very milky, no matter what I do.

Frozen should probably answer this, but Duncan is the brand name. Frozen matched a color on a very rare piece for me and I couldn’t tell the difference. If he recommends it, it will work.
Just an F.Y.I. – Windstone uses Golden Brand paints.
April 25, 2007 at 7:55 pm #566419Golden brand carbon black is pretty glossy… Bone black is more flat. I wonder if this might be what they use- I don’t know. We’ll see what Melody says.

Duncan….is a brand of paint that is used on ceramics…
Usually you have to buy it from a ceramic store…
BigCeramicStore online is where I’ve been getting them…
and I used the liquid pearl paints they have for all the metallic shades I have…they’re pretty cheap and last a good long time too…
and thier sealers are the ones I use on all my stuff…

Thanks for your time: -)We mix our paint. The “warm black” color(which is the body color of most of the black creatures we do) is Golden brand carbon black mixed with burnt sienna.
