SO tell me… are you one of those crazy, wake up at 4am to go shopping on Black Friday people??? … you know, the type who beast up an 80 year old lady for the last Zuzu Pet in WalMart?

Or are you one of the poor souls who have to work on that day like me? 🙄

I worked a night shift on Black Friday 5pm to midnight, and we actually went home early, around 10pm. I work at CVS Pharmacy and we were not very busy at all. I liked it 🙂 The morning shift that day said it was busy, but no more than a usual busy day for them.

I always work on those kinds of days, I feel bad saying I won’t work because I know they really need the people on those days. =

          I’ve never tried that.

One year though, I was playing Jack and Daxter, and in the middle of my game my playstation2 fried! I had to rush out and get a new one…I wanted to play my game…but since my family has never done holiday shopping, I was completely un-aware of it being…Black Friday…until I arived and my local Best Buy. I got my playstation2…and then stood in line for almost 3 hours!!!! NEVER doing that again.

I hate shopping at this time. I get panic attacks walking down the isles and have a constant fear of being run over by a shopping cart.

LOL! Koishii! That’s BAD TIMING if I EVER heard it!

I had people in the most IRATE moods because of them being next door at Best Buy since midnight the night before and then so pissy they didn’t get the sale they wanted they would then scream at me for an extra money off a washer and dryer or something. People are CRAZY on Black Friday! I only had one nice customer and I will remember her forever! LOL!

Shaun worked at WalMart and all he did all day was crowd control. I only mention the ZuZu Pets since he had to break up a fight between 3 old ladies who were pulling eachother’s hair to get the last ones. 😈 I remember picking him up the night before Thanksgiving and the “legendary 24 hour Walmart” had to actually close at midnight because of the holiday and people were in the parking lot freaking out!

Some guy was yelling at Shaun that he need to buy pipe cleaners. After arguing about why the store was closed for thanksgiving he started down the “well, I’ll take my business elsewhere from now on” speech. I poked my head out the window and said, “Sir, if Walmart is closed… the WORLD is closed!”

At 4 am, I’m fast asleep. Every day.

We don’t really have Black Friday here, but I find the entire idea of people tearing each other to pieces for an object on sale to be nuts. Bleh! I’m sorry you have to deal with that, Drag0n!

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I’ve gone out early the last few years, but I stand in line (only 40 minutes -1 hour) for a single, non-chain store. They sell a lot of neat stuff and the first hour they open (6am), everything except for artist prints of photos of racehorses and I think one or two other items is 50%. This includes Breyer horses, so to walk out with an armful of Breyer models you have been looking for an not paying $100 is awesome. This year though, there was nothing that I really needed that was a new model this year and anything I wanted to get for anyone was on sale for the holidays, but nothing spectacular enough to rush out at the crack of dawn for maybe $2 savings. I also didn’t get paid until noon on Friday this year, but it didn’t matter. So, I slept until 11:30am 😀 (fantastic.. considering sleep has been very little with some family crisis stuff the past week). I did go out, but I didn’t leave until 1:30pm, got a few things for me, did some poking around just for the heck of it, and still got the one item I needed, but didn’t want to wake up for (spindles of blank cds and dvds at Staples for uber cheap… dad, coworker and I needed them). Went out on Saturday to order 1 item and pick up some things for mom (I’m helping be her feet a bit this year) and headed home. Spent 20-30 minutes trying to order the item (the computer system was acting up – poor coding, no manager coming, but the item was ordered and I wasn’t in a hurry and didn’t make a fuss… they appreciated it! 🙂 ). I used to work retail and total understand working Black Friday! Exciting, but yuck at the same time!

I avoid Walmart and Best Buy on those days, until at least 10 am. I’ll never understand fist fights over a silly electronic device or toy, no matter how cool or tempting.

This year, the stores seemed open much earlier. Toys R Us was open at midnight! 😮 WTF?!?

Hmm… that’s a pretty loaded question. I guess I am one of those “crazy” people who go shopping on Black Friday. This year I went shopping at midnight (which I perfered) and then slept in the morning. I didn’t witness nor did I beat up any old ladies. Maybe next year. =P

Nope! I stay home – especially since it takes about an hour and 15 min. to get to where the shopping is (and i hate the nastyness)

Im in Canada we have “boxing day” the day after Christmas! But the sales are no where near like Black Friday, and no I never get up that early 😛 .

                      #794274

I have to work, so no sales shopping for me even if I wanted to. 😡

My pastor called it ‘Black and Blue Friday’ today at church, and I think he nailed it! 😆

I feel bad for the folks in retail with those awful after-Thanksgiving hours. I wish I could sleep in the day after Thanksgiving, and I’m guessing a few of them feel the same way… 🙄

Nope–I stay in. I had to go out and ship something but I stayed clear of all the mauls LOL! In my area I think Toys R Us were open at midnight! Give me a break! I never shopped on black Friday and I don’t think I ever will! Just too crazy out there–imagine beating someone up for a stupid toy! I have much better things to do that doesn’t involve fists!

Reading this stuff, I’m glad there a law against stores being open 24/7 here in Switzerland.
Drag0n, you should submit your traumatizing experiences to http://www.notalwaysright.com. They’d fit right in. I feel very sorry for you.

I’m a “avoid Black Friday at all costs” person. After hearing about some poor soul actually being trampled to DEATH at WalMart on Black Friday last year, I shall never go near a store on that day again so long as I live.

This holiday, unfortunately , shows the worst in people. People act like animals to get the last toy or product off a shelf and for WHAT? Where is the joy and happiness in knowing you got something for someone but you literally punched someone to get it? Or pulled their hair? Or stood in an aggravatingly slow line for 3 hours??

No, no, and no. I’ll buy all my stuff online thanks.
