Just wondering. There seem to be a lot of random other things that people here collect. Does anybody collect Asian Ball Jointed Dolls?
A friend of mine got one recently, and WOW! I would never have thought that a doll could actually be worth the ridiculous amount that these things cost, but it is actually really awesome. I’ve been shopping around a bit, and after I’ve saved up and gotten my Secret Keeper, I think that a BJD is going to be my next big purchase.
If anybody has no idea at all what I’m talking about, this site has a lot of my favorites, so you can go look: http://www.dreamofdoll.com/ (It’s got a version in English, happily. A lot of these sites don’t!)

February 16, 2007 at 5:32 am #540039Wow, those are pretty amazing! I’ve never seen such beautifully detailed dolls before. And I don’t even like dolls… 🙂
February 16, 2007 at 5:35 am #540040I always hated dolls, especially Barbie. But I think that’s because I could just tell that when my mom got me a doll that it was part of her campaign to try and get me to be more feminine and demure.
These seem more like works of art, really. They’re amazing. And you can customize the wazoo out of them, is the other thing I like. I’m probably going to be buying him: http://www.edendoll.com/en/product/DL003937 but I’ll do the face makeup differently, and he’ll have blue eyes and a different wig, and totally different outfit.
February 16, 2007 at 5:38 am #540041Very nice! All of these dolls remind me of anime characters. Is that what they’re modeled after?
February 16, 2007 at 5:42 am #540042Well, it’s the same art style, more or less. That’s why the “Asian” is the the name. They’re not generally specifically affiliated with any actual anime though. Not any that I’ve found thus far, anyhow. Though I do know that a lot of doll owners “cosplay” with them by making them into specific characters.
February 16, 2007 at 5:48 am #540043That makes sense — I bet some of them actually look a lot like some anime characters.

Hahaha! You too? 😆 Mom gave up giving me dolls years ago.
Despite my not liking dolls, these are impressive. The red eyes on the one you want are cool. Put in some vampire teeth and he’d be the epitome of Gothic.
February 16, 2007 at 7:03 am #540045Well, I’m looking for a doll to make into this character: http://www.edendoll.com/en/product/DL003937 who is a vampire. But a more genial sort.
February 16, 2007 at 7:34 am #540046Ok, those dolls are super-cool.. and I dont even collect dolls. I may just have to get one… only one, though.
February 16, 2007 at 8:32 am #540047He he he. Yeah, I’m going to just get one. Well… maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe two, boy and girl. But that’s it! Windstones are enough to collect!
February 16, 2007 at 8:47 am #540048I just showed my bf… he told me they were cool and then said, “You’re not gonna start collecting dolls, are you?” 😆
February 16, 2007 at 9:39 am #540049Hey, you can never have too many pretty shiny things!
February 16, 2007 at 2:55 pm #540050Those are cool!!! (must not start a new collection…must not start a new collection…) 😆
