Not sure if this belongs here in Food or in Community. Unfortunately, I have no birthday cake recipes, so this might be a tease.
My nephew loves trains (He’s 3), so last year I made him Thomas cupcakes for his party. Well, this year, he still loves trains, Thomas and Geo Tracks to be exact, so another train inspired cake. I’ve been watching too much Cake Off so this year was more elaborate.

Anyone else have Birthday or Holiday/Special Occasion cakes they want to show off? Or love Ultimate Cake Off or Cake Challenge? Or anyone else has kids or niece’s or nephew’s who love trains? My nephew is a train junky; he can’t get enough of playing with them or watching videos about them. >.<
Oh wow that is soooo cute! I love the details on the cake with the fish in the pond! I used to decorate cakes but have no more reason to do so now. Believe me, it is a lot of work–I remember a cake in my past for a young woman just turning 21–there was a small bottle of bubbly incorporated in the cake [not baked in]–turned out adorable!

Thank you, ladies 🙂 Yes, GB, I decorated them =) Everything was edible; the mint chocolate tracks were especially tasty. Not sure what I’ll do next year… :scratch:

My favorite cake…that is a hard one…since moving to Tx I have gotten hooked on red velvet w/buttercream frosting and i have tryed
a cupcake that the cake casted like pralines and had buttercream frosting. :yum:
As for favorite i can’t really pick a favorite too many other choices out there to try…i always find myself watching the wedding cake makers(on the food channel) because different cake flavors are coming out. Hoping to try a few some day. Mango sounded interesting and i even saw a bride once that requested the grooms cake made with a beer mixture (not sure if I want to try) but it sounded different.
