I think to do that job you’d have to find a vet that agrees with your views on animal cruelty. We have a vet here locally that refuses to do those procedures because he doesn’t agree with them. I’d just talk with your local vet facilities and check out their views, politely of course. 😀

I dont have a problem with docking tails and ears or declawing cats for that matter, though I know there are many on here with a different opinion. I think I would do well at a vet. If I get out, I will volunteer for a month or so and see if I can get a job after I volunteer. Maybe that is an option.

Thanks girl! 😉
September 30, 2007 at 2:49 pm #620740That sounds like a really good plan to me, you’ll have to let us know how you enjoy it! 🙂
September 30, 2007 at 4:50 pm #620741Ear cropping is less invasive than a routine spay, and just as needed, when I spent the day at our local vet we docked a 5 month old rottie pups tail, that was horrible, there are reasons these things are done at young ages, the 2 day old boxer pups didnt even whine at all. My friend spent a day there and got to watch a spay with an abortion, that made her leave.
IMO there are way more horrific things done to dogs that calling docking and cropping animal abuse, when done by a licensed vet, is just as much animal abuse as spaying and docking.

I def agree with you about there being much worse things than cropping tails and ears.
September 30, 2007 at 5:22 pm #620743Well, this is whats gonna happen… I just bought a ticket for my mother to come back to Germany. She will watch my son for me like she used to, that way I can concentrate on work. It may be for a year or 3, or 6. Who knows. (Be looking for a sale in the flea market to pay for this ticket 🙄 😆 ) Its paid for, though, and she comes back next week. Hopefully, they will let me make her my dependent again, and command sponser her, though, due to our previous trickery, she still has a ID card 🙄 . I hope it works out well. The only prob I ever had with her is that she is a dirty/messy person. we shall see if we can keep that under control. I will stay in the Army, take my bad review, get past it and get promoted eventually. I am also going to change my degree plan to fit something I want to do when I get out. I am also going to take leave and volunteer at the vets around here, too, if they allow it. That will help me when I get out.
September 30, 2007 at 5:51 pm #620744Sometimes it’s a relief just to have a plan. Sorry to hear that you have to sell more stuff though. 🙁
September 30, 2007 at 5:54 pm #620745That sounds like a good plan! I’m glad that your mom is able to help out.
September 30, 2007 at 6:27 pm #620746The vet did it because I grew up in an area where the owners would likely have chopped it off with an axe if he hadn’t, upside is that he was neutered at the same time.

Yikes. Been to places like that. I am surprised that the owner paid for the neutering, in that case. Normally owners are not that responsible.

That sounds great, ski. I hope it works out with your mom. That is really nice of her to be willing to come out. And it’s great for Justin to have a relationship with his grandmother (nana?) I’m glad things are looking up.
And if the vet doesn’t work out you could try volunteering at a shelter or for a rescue group. Although I don’t know what they have in Germany.

I am thinking about volunteering when I get time. Maybe take some leave and do it when I get a chance. Star advised me to change my degree plan, which I think was a stellar idea and I will do that tomorrow. Hopefully they have that as an option. I kinda doubt it, but we will see…
