Okay, he’s done. I still have to seal him, but except for that, he’s done.
I started him around 9am, took a couple 2 hour breaks, and finished him about 30 mins ago. So he took about 10 hours of intensive work.
I’m pleased with his colors and how he turned out, though my photography needs major help. I’ll try to take some sunlight pictures when the clouds go away.
The charms he is holding will have minature pictures of my children in them when I am done done.
KyrinWow, he looks great! So, how did you like the airbrush, besides the bent needle? Is it better than hand painting? Easier?

Getting a full coverage base coat is definately easier. And for doing a main color on the body. I haven’t experimented with detail work just yet, but I plan to play with a few ceramics I have laying around here to work on that, so if I screw up it isn’t a big deal.
Believe it or not on this dragon the first picture showing him basically green all over is only three colors, black, the Turquoise Phytholo Green, Golden Aqua Pearl strategtically placed, and then the Turquoise over the top again.
But I definately like the airbrush and plan to become more proficient with it, especially since repairs would look really good if I airbrush them. Also, using a paintbrush to feather the edges like an airbrush does is a lot harder, I can do it, but the airbrush will be much easier, but until I get better at using the airbrush, I don’t dare use it on other people’s sculpts just yet.

oooooo!I.want.to,seee!January 24, 2008 at 2:03 am #658101There you guys go, I took the charms off since I still have to seal him, but this pic is a bit truer to color too.
I changed the gold used on the gold accents, I replaced the paint with the gold leafing pen gold, I think it looks much better, definately brighter. He also has green interference paint on the scales running along his neck fading into his shoulder, not that you can see it here. The scales that run along his spine have green interference in the middles, where the side scales have blue.
My husband hadn’t seen him since Sunday, he came home and saw him and was like, Wow, he looks really good, I like him. *preen* If I keep patting myself on the back over this one, I’m gonna break my shoulder. LOL!
But seriously, I really love this dragon, I want another to paint…thankfully DDVM is sending me one so I can do just that, yay!

January 27, 2008 at 8:16 pm #658103Finally, an accurate picture! This is what he really looks like, the previous pics just didn’t come out well. Today I sealed him and put his charms on permanently. So he’s done, except for the installation of kiddo photos in the hearts.
Anyway, I’m also working on getting photos of the Sun dragon, but the weather outside is not cooperating, it is cold, overcast and windy, and for some reason my flash isn’t working right. Out of 14 pics, only this one of the Keeper actually came out right.

January 27, 2008 at 9:55 pm #658105Wow, I love the colours. My bf finally got his airbrush fixed so I can start using it. I’m starting on some cheap bisque pieces first.

Nice try…but this one is mine.
However, if you would like, when they are available again, I would be happy to paint one for you.
