My art: featherdust.comMay 21, 2008 at 4:12 pm #705028Might be good to add Flion to the ™ list.
May 21, 2008 at 5:11 pm #705029What about Flapcat?
May 21, 2008 at 5:20 pm #705030I don’t know if Flap Cat was trade marked or not, but the bottom of every Flion I’ve seen had a ™ next to the word Flion.
May 21, 2008 at 5:28 pm #705031Geeze……if there was *ever* any question about whether or not we are ALL easily amused, it’s been answered now. 😆 🙄
oh, and BTW……poad…..
……..LMAO….
May 21, 2008 at 5:36 pm #705032I am guessing this is the regular word filter that swops one specific word (not case sensitive) for another, so that when someone uses a choice turn of phrase the board owner can have it coming out as “AAUUUUUGGGHHHHHHHLE” or whatever they like. (I do notice not all of my favourite words get sanitised. I did a test run…).
Also, it only looks for the exact word. I can still write PoadTM without it appearing as Poad TM. (But for some reason I can’t write Poad without it coming out Poad™.)
What fun!
May 21, 2008 at 5:39 pm #705033😆 😆 😆 I’m so glad I’m not the only one easily amused! *chuckle, chuckle, chuckle*

You’re just trying to make me work harder.
I figure if I hear it on daytime TV (when toddlers can be watching… sigh) it might not need edited. Most people on here are good about cussing… 😉Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com

Actually I’m not trying to make you work harder, really. If someone wants to use a particular word they’ll figure out a way to do so, translator or no translator. What the word list does is stop people from accidentally saying something inappropriate on a family board. Most of my favourite “you can’t say that on broadcast TV!” words are more used in England than here anyway, so are not all that likely to be used here accidentally. And as you say, most of us are very good at self-censorship.
And for those occasions when someone does come to the forum to bomb it, you can’t do much to prevent that. You just have to delete the message, ban the user, and get on with the show.
For which, Thanks! You do do a great job here, and I am certainly impressed at the way you handle everything.
May 21, 2008 at 9:48 pm #705037I agree with Dave. You do a great job riding herd on all of us. I don’t envy you in that regard. You do an excellent job! Thanks for all your time and effort 😀
