I love kathleen moody’s work…I’m excited to see that sculpt in person! I like the pose of the “Make a Wish” sculpt very much.
Here’s a link to someone elses image…but it’s one of the special runs I have…the andalusian “Galahad”
here’s one of the stone horses…..though I prefer breyer, I do have a few by stonehorses….I have this particular color on the arab mold, it’s my fave color on that sculpt.

well…it’s kinda tied with this one…I got them as a pair….

I have two of these as well….one in the original grey, and a second one I’m going to repaint at some point.
I’ve repainted a couple for myself…but plastics can be fussy and I dont do comission work that way because I’d be horrified if I messed up someone elses horse. I’m just not as comfortable with painting them.
January 7, 2010 at 6:53 pm #799199Oooo… love Galahad!!
January 7, 2010 at 9:29 pm #799200Nice horses purplecat! 😀
January 8, 2010 at 6:19 am #799201I really like the colorings on the two Arabs.
January 12, 2010 at 6:13 pm #799202Painted? Oh, its not a real horse? o.O (just kidding) That paint job is…phenominal! He looks super real. I’m totally amazed someone can do that with paint. wow wow wow! And yea, you could get like 4 SK’s with that money o.O Wish I had it! lol
January 12, 2010 at 7:43 pm #799203He’s pretty, all right…
but he looks awfully familiar…
Black Stallion Breyer sculpt from “The Black Stallion Returns” setI know they’re not exact, but the pose is really close.
Windstone collector in remission. 😉
January 12, 2010 at 7:47 pm #799204it’s sometimes not an original sculpt but a “customized” sculpt….which is really common. Someone will adjust, resculpt and repaint a model, then sell it for alot. At first glance I thought it might be a customized stone arab. It’s actually encouraged, and there are competitions held for this sort of thing at breyerfest…..which is why when I was initially introduced to windstones, I was shocked at the negative reaction my repaints caused….my previous experiences were contrary to the norm.
Edit: resins are harder to customize….and where this is listed as a resin…..it makes me wonder. I gotta go check that listing now….and yep it is a resin by an artist that has several other horses in her galleries. Non-customized. She’s got some neat works, but the posings of several of her sculpts are very very close to breyer pieces. my mistake, I’ve seen some incredible customizations…and that’s what it had struck me as at first. 😳
January 12, 2010 at 11:32 pm #799205You’ll find alot of resins that reaembles Breyer models but it doesn’t mean they copied from a breyer model.
From my experience in resins and their artists they usualy find a picture or a pose (from their own horse) and decide to sculpt a model from it.
It’s alot of work (someone on this forum knows what I’m talking about since she’s sculpting one).
Resin can be easy to customize if you have the tools for it and the compound.
Customized doesn’t necessarily mean it was reshaped in some way. Just repainting it can have the same meaning.
It’s fun but also tedious (time consuming) work. 🙂January 12, 2010 at 11:38 pm #799206yes, horses have very “structured” bodies…without the acrobatic poses that say…cats…are capable of..it’s inevitable to have similarities…especially considering this pose is one specific to the breed. When we got to attend the egyptian event one year…where they have arabs brought in from worldwide, the trainers would cue them to strike that pose. It’s a very magnificent site.
twas just my knee jerk reaction to think “customized” when i saw that one, because it’s what I’m used to seeing, and there is similarity of course, to both the breyer and stone arab sculpts. I’ve also done a few customs, a looong time back, so that’s another reason it may have been the first thing I thought. I love surfin about the MHSP where you can see both customs and artists resins. There are some really lovely works in those fields.
January 12, 2010 at 11:51 pm #799207I verified and the resin in question in this thread was only painted not resculpt. Hre a link to the sculptor’s site:

And here’s a link to the equine resin directory: http://equineresindirectory.com/showresin.asp?resinid=2804
Have fun! 🙂January 13, 2010 at 1:50 am #799208http://www.modelhorsesalespages.com/sales/view_details.asp?path=Gallery&id=759809
this is one of my favorite artist resins…I’d die if i got my grubby paws on one of these. I love that sculpt.
Edit….here’s another one I was fortunate enough to find a picture of…I love drafters…just gorgeous work
January 13, 2010 at 1:58 am #799209WOW. *jawdrops* Stunning but I’d rather spend $5k on a special Secret Keeper! 😀
Seriously though that is one gorgeous horse sculpture!
January 13, 2010 at 3:10 am #799210I’ve always loved SCARLETT in traditional size. Would love to own one. 🙂
She is my favorite draft mare resin. The sculptor also made a small version of her in Gypsy with blowing mane and another gypsy straight hair version 🙂
