July 31, 2011 at 11:24 pm #852529This is your BROTHER!?!?!?
I have seen something like this a couple years ago and I am pretty sure this is the same fellow in the video. I was enthralled back then–now I am BLOWN AWAY!
(…just realized that pun. HA!)
I love everything about his artistic concept and especially resonate with his observation that this is how a Creator must have struggled with breathing intelligent design and life into his forms.
Your brother’s sculptures are a great trifecta of complex architectural design, visual beauty, and deep thoughtful reflection behind the creative effort. All of my favorite artists excel in these three areas. <3
If you talk to him anytime soon tell him a fellow (fledgling) artist sends their respect/admiration and is quite inspired by his work. Eep!
August 1, 2011 at 2:30 am #852551I think she meant her brother sent her the link. The guy that makes these is named Theo.
I’ve seen these things in the past. They’re quite amazing.
August 1, 2011 at 5:04 am #852563I’m sorry for the confusion chrisherself :8) I should’ve said that Dave had sent the link… He is an engineer who loves to build stuff and pull crazy pranks like building a snowman in his bosses office or switching out all the computer monitors with fake “screens” which were just paint, plastic and a cardboard box… He spent the day telling his group that the boss finally upped and got every work station a “new, slim line” monitor and that it would take few minutes for the system to synchronize with the new monitors and if they had any trouble would they please call the IT department to come help them walk through the new boot up program… Yup, that’s my brother all the way – actually it’s pretty much the whole family… :p

forgot to add that they have nerf gun wars riding segways round the office. David upped the ante on his co-workers by hooking his automatic nerf gun to a car battery so he could win easier J) in his free time he illustrates comic books and is learning how to make his own marbles from the glass artisans he passes on his way to work everyday đ

Things To Do In The Office On A Hot Summer Day When The Air Conditioning Has Stopped Working #155
Friday, August 20th, 2010Low-Power Computer Monitor Replacement.
If your company still has some workstations that use CRT monitors instead of LCDs, this will work well, since this is often a sore point to those employees who still have the boat anchors on their desk.
<â Take a âLarge FedEx boxâ, or one similar to it. Shipping boxes are usually easiest to find around the office.
Youâll need a cable with a 15-pin VGA / SVGA adapter at one end (your typical computer monitor cable) to really sell this one. If you DONâT have access to some spare computer cables, just yank the one out of the back of your computer (you can return it later if it doesnât get confiscated, and youâre not going to be using your computer while youâre doing this anyway).
While the box design in the photo may fool some of your co-workers, most of them are going to look at that box and know somethingâs not quite right, so I suggest you paint it black and print out a colour copy of âa generic Windows screen backgroundâ (or whatever a generic background for your officeâs computers looks like if you happen to be employed at one of the few places of employment that is running some other operating system than Windows). If you can print it out on A3 or 11Ă17 paper, you get a better effect.
(Sidenote: At this point, âsomeoneâ asked, âWhy donât we just print out their computer background and use that?â To which I replied, âBecause then, weâd have to change it every time we try this on someone new!â Then he said, âSo?â And after I reminded him that access to a workstation isnât always an easy thing, he reminded me that we work in the IT department, and said, âYouâre just being lazy!â But not in such nice words, and at that point, we agreed to stop âdiscussingâ it anymore before the tires on someoneâs car were accidentally lit on fire⊠againâŠ)
âPlugâ the cable into the back of your box near the bottom and glue the fake background onto the front. We preceded our prank with a group email to the targeted department explaining that âin an effort to decrease our companyâs carbon footprintâ and âdue to the massive draw of power on the city grid that these monitors often useâ and âthe obvious effect on the companyâs air conditioningâ, the IT department would be swapping out their CRT monitors throughout the day with âthin, sleek LCD monitorsâ. âPlease bear with us as this is an ongoing processâ, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc.
Then itâs just a matter of walking up to a co-workerâs desk with their spiffy new LCD monitor, asking them if they got the email this morning and if itâs alright to swap out their monitor â âItâll only take a minute.â As youâre swapping their old one out and plugging in their new one to the back of their computer (see where that cable comes in handy?), explain that it may take a minute or so âfor the configuration to kick in on the new computerâ, so their âmouse may not be responsive immediately, but give it a minute and call us if thereâs a problem.â
âAll done!â
Take away their old one and tell any other co-workers who are gazing longingly at the newly installed LCD that youâll be back a bit later to swap out some others. We did this 6 times.
Only 2 co-workers stopped us before we got out of the office/cubicle-farm.
1 co-worker called the Help Desk to report that the mouse still wasnât responding and asking if someone would come up and take a look at it, which is when our âmonitorâ got confiscated and further replacements ended.Posted in Office Mayhem
