Yes it is! It was taken at my mothers place. The lighting there is better then at my place. I do have the same ones. I’ll get into my old computer today to get more pics and some other subjet and post them here. It’s been a while since I posted pics.
I might even attempt to load that bear video I made back in the fall. 🙂

I love cicadas. This summer has been beautiful with them singing in the trees. Everyone else thinks it’s too hot, but the cicadas only sing when it’s hot. I love it. Beautiful pictues, BDW.

Thanks ghostndragon! Cicada sing to attract females. It’s their mating call. 🙂 Imagine having one in the house? To loud for me! 😆

I would imagine they would be loud. I’ve never heard one truly close. They’re always high in a tree when they’re singing. They’re such interesting bugs. They look like big flies, but they have a bit of heft to them and feel more like beetles. I’ve never seen one fly, and they crawl slowly, and cling tightly. They don’t often show themselves, though.

Great pictures! I laughed when I read you like their singing — this summer being so hot has definately made them sing – they are nearly screaming. The other day I walked thru my yard under the tree and I nearly needed to cover my ears, it seemed as tho there was a hundred of them ALL ‘singing’ loudly, it was a bit deafening and I remarked that I don’t think I’ve heard that in a long, long time. Probably not since I was a child or over 35 years (or more!). When I find a dead one, I have to admit I like to save their wings, to use to attach to appropriate pictures to give ‘wings’ (I do this with dead butterflies, too) – have a wonderful pic of my niece doing a piroete (spelling?? – ballet dance) and she is wearing cicada wings lol

I’ll get the book I purchased for my mom. It has all the mushrooms in it and which is edible. 🙂
