She’s a Northern Pines Gopher snake, she is going to be 17 years old this August and is going on 8 feet long now…..O.o I got her for my 8th birthday from a guy in NM that does a rattlesnake awareness program and goes out to peoples houses to remove rattlesnakes and other poisonus critters from the premmises. Anyway, he was out hiking and came upon a clutch of eggs and took them back home to hatch them to see what the were. They hatched out gopher snakes. I got to pick out one of the eggs before they hatched so it would be a surprise and got Bandit!

More info than required I know, but I thought I’d put the story out for those who hadn’t heard it or were interested. =P

I think its great, too. I had a gopher snake but not for long. 17 years? Do they normally live that long?

If you feed them right and take care of them, they can live up to 30 years….or so I’ve heard, I think the average is 20-23. In the wild, they’ll usualy only live 10-12 years…
