Also, if you end up having to go the PayPal dispute route, my repair estimate should help you out there as well, they often will help you get at least that.
What color dragon is he, btw, I’m curious.

This is what he was shipped in 🙁
February 5, 2009 at 11:06 pm #659643Ooooowwww. The poor thing. 😮
February 5, 2009 at 11:15 pm #659644Oh my…seeing both Wolfen and Undeadhoor’s pictures makes me so sad.. How could anyone possibly think that those flimsy packing jobs would be acceptable? I once bought a PVC figure on eBay from a seller in China, and he shipped it in an envelope with no padding at all. Some people really shouldn’t be sellers.
I wish I could help more, but everyone’s already given such good advice. I know how frustrating both eBay and Paypal can be at times, but I hope everything works out okay for everyone. *those poor dragons* 🙁
February 6, 2009 at 3:14 am #659645Wow, that is the most broken I have ever seen a Male dragon get…the sculpt usually holds up to abuse pretty well and it is usually the head and wings that take the worst of it.
Get back to me on it if you need an estimate.
He’s restorable…just save the pieces and if you plan to have me fix him, please DO NOT glue anything! Just pack all the pieces up separately, small bits in a Ziplock.

February 6, 2009 at 3:40 am #659646You know what we need to do here, is collect pics from everyone on the forum who has had a windstone totally busted because of a wretched packing job, and put them in a topic or webpage or something, that can be shown to sellers as “HOW NOT TO PACK WINDSTONES” lol
February 6, 2009 at 3:57 am #659647Shoe boxes are NOT for windstones! Geez! 🙄
Kyrin can make him pretty again. 😉 She’s good!!!

That is an excellent idea. If someone starts a thread/topic/page, I would be very, very, happy to contribute.
February 6, 2009 at 6:18 am #659649Arrgh! Those pictures are painful, especially that emerald Spectral. There are so few of them around as is.
Who was the seller, Wolfen? I rather miss SPark’s blacklist of lousy sellers.February 7, 2009 at 8:44 am #659650Maybe I’m swimming against the river here, but I’ve had really good luck with filing claims with paypal. I had a string of bad sellers at one point, with 2 wizards at one time broken in half, one was sent wrapped in a teeshirt with 3 small pieces of hard styrofoam in a small box(!!) and other smushed Windstones so at one time I had 5 disputes going with paypal. My P.O. refused to honor each and every insurance claim I submitted claiming bad packing on the part of the sellers, even though they (the sellers) claimed the packing was “more than adequate”. So Paypal took it up with the sellers, and initially paid me the first $200 of the claim and then sometimes the sellers didn’t have enough in their accounts to go after the rest, but eventually they did, so when they did, Paypal went in and took out the rest of it. I was very pleased with the service I got from Paypal.
One thing I really had to pay attention to was the timeline on escalating the disputes to claims, though. That is not automatic, I had to do that, otherwise paypal assumes that the dispute has been resolved and drops it. I always contacted the sellers first by using the “contact seller” on the original ebay listing (I don’t delete anything on purchases until I get the item and I’m satisfied with it) and then go from there. I also asked Paypal if I was getting a reputation for filing so many claims, and was assured that the dispute center was what it was there for and they were trying to keep their reputations clean too, so it was to their advantage to keep their buyers happy.
Anyway, I thought I would weigh in with my experience with Paypal. My scorecard is: Post Office:0% Fed Ex:0% Paypal:100% so far.(fingers crossed!) Incidentally, not all the sellers I’ve bought items from that arrived damaged were PITA’s, some were very apologetic, just inexperienced, and cooperative and we resolved things without having to resort to paypal. But for me it is good to know I can resort to paypal when I need to, I don’t have to feel so angry and helpless, it’s hard enough to get a damaged Windstone without the added insult.February 7, 2009 at 2:20 pm #659651Pam Thompson wrote:You know what we need to do here, is collect pics from everyone on the forum who has had a windstone totally busted because of a wretched packing job, and put them in a topic or webpage or something, that can be shown to sellers as “HOW NOT TO PACK WINDSTONES” lol
You mean like this? SPark put it together a while ago (though it shows how to properly pack one instead of how not to pack one). But really someone needs to post it (or something similar) as a guide on ebay. I know there are all sorts of guides there (like how to tell a fake my little pony from a real one).

Very good, that is an excellent seller! Give him a positive, he deserves it!
If you would like to be added to the repair list, I can do that, I should have some slots available in March. I can also send you an estimate so you know what you will be in for if you still want me to fix him.

The PO is not required to honor insurance on a damaged package that is not properly packed. Just because you bought insurance doesn’t mean you are covered. You’re still at the mercy of you sellers packing skills.
