August 18, 2009 at 9:17 am #779774Our thoughts and well wishes are always with you and your family (even if they are expressed a bit belated). DDVM is right though, you and everyone else helping out needs to take care of themselves as well. Stay strong and healthy and everything around you can do naught but follow suit! Warm fuzzies, love, and hugs all around!
August 22, 2009 at 4:07 am #779775Hello everyone 😀 . My dad is home now and doing well. I will be staying with my parents for about a week starting Monday. My sister has been staying with them in the meantime, but her kids start school soon and she’s got classes starting next week. We’ll see what happens. I’m a little nervous about staying with them. Where they live is very isolated, but i’m sure things will be fine.

August 31, 2009 at 3:40 pm #779781Hello again. I’m back home from visiting Mom and Dad. I can’t exactly say I had ‘fun’, but thing went pretty much as expected. I love my Dad, but getting along with him on his best days can be diffucult. Add in the extream pain and weakness and the emotional ‘downs’ one experiences after such a serious sugery and , well, it makes it almost impossible. But I know my Dad, so I knew what to expect.
He’s actually healing very well. I was surprized to see how well the incision site on his chest is healing. He is pretty much unable to do any sort of lifting and he won’t be allowed to drive for at least 4 more weeks. When I stayed, I helped take care of animals, drove my parents to town and did a number of odd-jobs around the house. My Mother is’nt doing great either. She’s very stressed, and really did’nt want me to go. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I needed to come back for work. Plus, I have a very bad tooth that was bothering me the entire week I was staying with my mom and dad. I never had a tooth ache so bad! I got a temporary cap on it earlier because the tooth had cracked, but I think I’m gonna have it pulled just because I can’t afford the root canal and permament cap on it. Ick… But anyways, I’ll keep you guys posted on Dad’s progress. Hoping for easier times ahead, for all of us.August 31, 2009 at 6:50 pm #779782Good luck with your situation. I’ll be praying for your father 🙂

September 2, 2009 at 1:50 am #779786Sorry about your tooth…there’s a saying I read somewhere…”The Taj Mahal may very well be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, but show it to a man with a toothache and he will remember the experience quite differently.” Or something like that. So it’s a bummer you had to go take care of your parents with that going on! Hope it’s feeling better soon, and that your parents continue to get on all right.
