I love little knick knacks like that! But you’re right, the best souvenir is the pictures and memories, it’s so great you got to share that with your sister! I wish my sister would want to join me, but she’s not interested in Japan or international travel in general ;~;
Did you try out any onsen places while in Japan? I’ve heard they’re very nice.
Another place I really want to go while in Japan is DisneySea in Tokyo, I’ve never been to any Disney parks, thankfully it’s on the tour itinerary with the tour group I want to go with so that one’s on lock! Oh and Bunny island, I want to be stampeded by zillions of bunnies! lol

Not currently open for PYO commissions.November 8, 2016 at 9:31 am #1509807Awesome! I never take tours when I travel unless it is something specific (like my college choir got together and traveled… that sort of thing).
I definitely want to do a trip to Japan in a future year before the Olympics, so I will probably PM you for some questions. I didn’t get to chance to accept an opening with JET, so I really want to do this (I can’t afford the pay cut for JET now and I have dogs I couldn’t leave for a year+). My top choices were Miyagi, Hokkaido, and Iwate prefectures. Good to know about the Ghibli tickets. I’ve heard that before, but not how far in advance.
Now I definitely want to make a trip to the fox park!
November 8, 2016 at 2:28 pm #1509810I’ve heard Hokkaido is very beautiful! I’m on the fence on whether I want to go on a spring tour(which doesn’t have the Hokkaido trip) or the winter one where you get to enjoy the snow festival in Sapporo! It’ll be touch decision when the time comes!

Not currently open for PYO commissions.November 8, 2016 at 7:58 pm #1509822No onsen for me. I was gearing myself up for it, my ryokan in Kyoto had one and also private baths in each room. So I showered/bathed that night the Japanese way, getting all washed and cleaned up on the stool with the little shower then jumping into the tub. It’s bloody hotter than hell and after about 10 minutes of relaxation, so boring! So yeah, I still hate baths. Public baths sound even worse!
Ah JET, that was my plan too before I found my library job. I’m checking out their application process again right now just in case I need to be a political refugee after tonight. I would hate to have to bring my cats through the quarantine process, but I’m not leaving them for 4 years.
From what I saw of Miyagi to get to Zao, it’s a beautiful area.
Hokkaido also has the best brewery tours apparently. We wanted to go there too, but it was too much for the first trip. Maybe next time!
November 8, 2016 at 10:33 pm #1509823Haha, yeah I think a lot of people are looking for other options! I’d love to try out living in Japan(once I had better command of the language, of course), I’d love to have better access to all kinds of sweet Japanese swag(I’d probably live at the Pokemon Center and probably lose of my coins to the Gacha Machines lol) unfortunately I never got a degree and according to what I’ve heard you need one of those to get a Visa ;~; if only one could turn back time!

I would also love to see Japan one day but then again I want to travel to so many different places, it may take a while to get there. I love Japanese food though and also eat mostly vegan so it’s good to know you can find food like that there. Those foxes are so cute! I would also love to see the fox park and bunny island and don’t they have a cat island too? How many places did you see there?
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
November 9, 2016 at 8:31 pm #1509861I second Landipan, you went to just about all the places I’d love to hit up while there. And your photos came out great !!
