Birth experience ahead, if you want to just see pics scroll down farther 🙂
Ok so first off I didn’t post that I was going to the hospital on here becaue I was in denile that I was in labor lol. I had pain all night starting around 2am thursday. I kept thinking it was in my head so I went back to sleep. 5am came and it was still there but getting worse. I woke my husband up but I wouldn’t call the doctor because I figured labor would hurt alot more then I did. So finally around 7:30 he started timing my contractions and they where 3-5 minutes apart so I called my doctor at 8:30 and they told me to come in.
When I got to the hospital I was already 5cm and 90% so they took me right to a room. The pain still wasn’t all that bad but I decided I wanted to enjoy this experience so I opted for an epidural. After they got me to a room I sat there for a few more hours before I did get my epidural and by then I was 7cm and 100% but still I wasn’t in horrible pain. After they gave me the epidural my midwife came in and broke my water. When she did the babies heart rate dropped so they had me lay on my right side (the only side I could lay on without her rate dropping). It was nice since that was the side the window was on and I could watch it snow.
I could still feel the contractions on my right side so they told me to keep hitting my button which I did. When they came in to check me again I couldn’t move my legs at all so they told me to stop hitting my button. It got alittle scarry after that since they wanted to roll me on my other side to get the baby to move down. When I did her heart rate dropped down to 70 and wouldn’t go back up. All these people came rushing into the room and they where rolling me back and forth and getting ready to put me on oxygen. Finally if I stayed on my back her heart rate would stay up so thats where they left me and I told them no more moving around lol.
A little after 6pm they told me I could start to push and I felt like she was never going to come out. I was pushing so hard I figured either she was going to come out or my head was going to pop off lol. Finally at 6:41pm she was born. Because her heart rate had kept dropping she moved her bowels while she was still in me. When she was born she came out so fast they didn’t have a chance to suction her right away and she inhailed some poo so they only let me hold her for a minute then took her away to suction her out and clean her off. I had to keep telling Danny to go over and be with the baby since he didn’t want to leave my side. I was like “I’m not going anywhere, its only the other side of the room”. While they were cleaning me up the midwife had to sew me shut since she came out so fast I tore pretty bad.
One of the nurses looked her over and kept telling me she had a clubed foot. Her and Danny were getting into an argument about that because he has seen lots of clubed feet and he said hers doesn’t looked clubed. I didn’t find out until the next day that her foot isn’t clubed but becaues of the position she was in inside me its turned to the side. Her pediatrician said it should go back to normal in a few weeks. Well after the nurse got me all worked up thinking I had done something wrong to my baby they gave her back to me and let me hold her until my epidural wore off. Then they moved all of us to a smaller room since everyone in Baltimore was having a baby that day and they needed mine lol. So that was pretty much it, I’ve spent the last two days with no sleep since I have to feed Alyssa every 3 hours and I’m in alot of pain from the stitches and hemrrhoid (ewww fun). The only how I’m able to sit here is becaue my husband went out and got me a foam ring for my butt he he. Ok so here are the pics I promised….

When she called me in the hospital my mom was visiting and going manic as all get out. She kept picking the baby up and walking around, handing her off to my dad, picking her up again and rocking her way too hard. She had her so overstimulated that she didn’t sleep at all last night and cried the whole time. If it wasn’t for me talking to Kyrin on the phone I would have jumped off the bed and kicked her right in the butt. I just hope that got her baby mania out of her system becaues she is never going to do that again.
Congrats you all look so Happy! I’m glad Danny was here to get to see his daughter. BTW how is he doing??

LOL about saving your Mom from a butt kicking, next time I’ll wait a little longer so you can do it, she needs a good swift kick in the butt, maybe more than one!
*hugs to you all* I am so happy for all of you. Karli nearly aspirated merconium too, but managed not to, but still for the first 7 minutes she was out of me they had her on the little examination table suctioning her out, it was a long 7 minutes, but finally they gave her to me and could hold her.
I look forward to watching her grow.

Awww she’s beautiful! Congratulations to you both!!! And I would have kicked my moms butt for doing that…. grrr! lol
