I was curious, why do the griffins take so much longer to paint than the wolf did? I would’ve thought that they would take about the same amount of time…
The wolves are MUCH smaller. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comDecember 24, 2006 at 6:25 pm #519724That, and less overall feathers. I detail feathers a little bit at a time, so the more feathers, the longer it takes. Griffins take about twice as long, for me, than the wolf and KiRin.
December 24, 2006 at 6:42 pm #519725Ah, that makes sense. I can see the feathers taking a lot of time…
And Nam, I’d forgotten that the wolves were smaller! I kept thinking that they were the same size as the griffin even though I’ve seen Melody’s comparison picture…
December 24, 2006 at 10:05 pm #519726OOOH! I LOVE THIS ONE!!!! Your best wolf so far I think. I LOVE her colors. Autumn Wolf is the BEST name, but I think she looks a bit like a coyote/wolf hybrid.

I’d love to make a coyote one though…and sculpt the ears longer for that.
I may have to sell this one…don’t know yet. I really don’t want to but I can see myself painting a whole lot of these winged wolves down the line and have too many to handle, I love the sculpture so much.
I wish I had Nam’s job so then I could paint up as many as I could handle, and then have it be a real job to boot! It’s win/win…though I wish I could see more of Nam’s work.
December 24, 2006 at 11:23 pm #519728I think it’s my favorite wolf to be shown so far, Water – this one is really stunning!! Did you model the color/markings on a particular animal or did you make them up? He’s really beautiful…

I feel a crash coming on soon though since 5 am is usually my limit but I just had to finish the wolf, even though it needs some touch-ups.
BTW If you’re ever interested in getting a custom PYO from me, I am looking into getting fursuit parts for 2007.
Hmmmm…. I might take you up on that. If you like you can PM me about it.
OH! SPark is AWESOME at making fursuits!!! I have no clue what I’m doing and I managed to make my own partial pretty easily from her advice!!! I’m on SPark’s waiting list already for her first quad suit *smile*
