October 22, 2007 at 9:37 pm #628590Dumb question *ducks* Out of curiosity, has anyone used automotive paint on the pyos and can you use it with a brush or do you have to use an airbrush. There are so many yummy colors out there…

October 23, 2007 at 12:15 am #628591I think auto paints have to be used with an airbrush only. Its too thin to really use with a brush…
I am not 100% on this so don’t take my work for it.

I think down towards the bottom it might say something about what you are asking…. sorta…
Hope I am not confusing you any…. 😕
I know what you mean though! Some of the car colors are very nice! 🙂
October 23, 2007 at 1:45 am #628592As long as it wasn’t oil based or enamel based I would guess it would work fine.
October 23, 2007 at 3:49 am #628593I wanna say that it is since you need thinner to remove it and to thin it down.
I could SOOOOOO see an honest Black Cherry dragon! Ohhhh yeah!

Exactly! ‘Course Candy Apple Red has always been a favorite. How many auto paints are named after some sort of food? Could there be an ice cream sundae dragon using food named paint? Yummy! 😈

this topic makes me hungry lolOctober 24, 2007 at 6:41 pm #628597This is tricky- I don’t really know much about automotive paints or the different types. Melody has used some on the first Ruby dragons- perhaps she can help you out. 😆 I should also note that those that they used automotive paint on were the most problematic..! They would turn colors/fade/the paint would rub off…

My art: featherdust.comOctober 25, 2007 at 12:42 am #628598I used some spray automotive paint on a kirin (I just masked off where I didn’t want the paint). It was kinda tricky, since it was also a very stark color difference (transparent cherry apple red – sprayed over silver metallic- contrasted to white). It looked fantastic, but I ran into a problem in the spray I used. The paint was enamel, but the clearcoat I used was meant for acrylic (which I didn’t realize… d’oh!), so the red clouded and dulled a little. I’ll try it again either before winter sets in or in the spring (since I can’t spray things as easily in the cold winter).
