I was agreeing with others when I posted. And, yes, I still do. But, alas there is no real way for Melody to check the postings, or whatnot every time a raffle is done. And I don’t expect her to. It would be nice though if people were always honest then NO ONE could complain. 8) Mostly this is a place of opinions and some facts. And we are all entitled to our opinion. 😉 I didn’t even enter this raffle. I thought Augustus was beautiful, but just not for me. So like I said, “Flame on!”. XD

First, congradulation to Satin, you’ve gotten a beautiful piece and I hope you enjoy him for a long time to come.

Yeah, I notice new names that come up as winners for these items, but once they’ve won, they can’t enter the raffles again unless they give the piece away or donate it for a charity raffle. With all of us entering, the odds of any of us winning in any given month would be slim–especially this month–I’m guessing a lot of people entered for this month. I would have liked to win like everyone else but remember, these items are free and out of the generosity of Melody’s heart. And to make new accounts just to enter a raffle–they still have a slim chance of winning again.

I’m not flaming anyone–just giving my own observations and feelings. I know, it was a gorgeous prize this month and I would have loved to win it! 😥 Oh how I wish I could have won! :shout:

I was REALLY crossing my fingers on this one. 🙁 Can we have a griffin for next month too? 🙂

Oooh, yes please. October is my birth month. >.> 😀

            Psssst…. Tyrrlin…. next month is Septmeber…. 😉 lol 😆

            D’oh!

And as for the “new member winning” thing, I was mostly just voicing my frustrations. It shouldn’t be that difficult to at least say hello. *shrugs*

            Windstone collector in remission. 😉

I quite feel your frustration myself. It’s a downer to lose month after month, but having the prize go to someone I know on the forum, and know will cherish and enjoy it, helps make up for the sense of disappointment…rather than a faceless stranger who silently absconds with the booty. 😈 😉

That “faceless stranger” wrote something in the intro area, and seems like a nice person who just got very lucky! 🙂

However, if someone is dishonest enough, they will find a way to enter again as a “new” person. And how would we know, since they aren’t speaking on the forum? We won’t.

Or how can we know they won’t sell their prize and sign up again? We can’t. I’d rather believe nobody would abuse Melody’s generosity that way, but… 🙄

I’ve noticed that, too. Maybe we can ask for people to have at least ONE post (like an introduction, maybe) before entering a raffle. Just an idea, you can flame me later, I suppose.

Absolutely not; I think that’s a great idea. I haven’t entered a raffle in months but I think it’d be quite fair to the active participants and supporters of Windstone if they had a somewhat better chance at these OOAK giveaways than someone who calls it quits after typing a name and password. 😡

Shaun said that on the forum he is on they do a free magic promo card give away once a month, but you have to have at least 100 posts to participate.

                Just food for thought.

Yup. I’m sure people join the forum for the raffle prize. It really isn’t that big of deal, though, in my opinion. Even if they don’t say anything, it’s possible that they’re reading and learning. The winner this month dropped in and said “hi.” I don’t talk all that much on the forum, but I do enjoy reading it. And learning about all kinds of topics, from Windstones to horse genetics. Even if someone goes to all the work of faking a name/address/etc., their odds of winning again are pretty slim. I mean, it’s not like we’ve all won something, let alone twice. (-says this after just winning Buckeye…WOW-) I think it’s so cool that Melody gives us this opportunity once a month. I don’t know of any other artist that does this. It’s incredibly generous and unique. THANKS MELODY!!!

I do agree with azurielle, that the forum members who have been participating in discussions and drooling over pieces with each other feel more entitled(I feel the same way too sometimes-not all the time-I try not too. ) Anywhoo-Even though it might be something people get a little worried about or tiffed about, I would rather have Melody continue the raffles rather than just decide that they cause too much heartache. Afterall-Melody is SUPER kind, and I have the impression that she does like to keep us forum members happy. 🙂 Thank you Melody for the raffles!! 😀

I would just like to be happy that anyone wins–I may never win and that’s okay–I know the odds. If a newbie wins I think that’s a wonderful welcome for them. I rather give someone the benefit of the doubt because I’m a newbie myself–not quite six months since–and would feel horrible if I had just signed up and won the raffle and see that everyone was upset with me winning. This was the first raffle I entered because I really, really loved the prize–I’m not in on every one of them because I know once I win–that’s it so I want it to be something I would cherish for a long, long time to come.

I’m just glad Melody is so generous with us and puts up with us at times and really does try to please us. How many artists do that?
