What is it will all these new members winning the raffles?
Yes congrats!
The raffles seem to bring new people to the forums but also it would be easy for a member to make more than one account to enter these raffles as well. I should hope that no one would do that.
I hope not either…but I would have thought that they would be cought by their IP addy..?

I’ve wondered that too, but dont’ we have to give our real names and shipping addresses to Melody?
I wonder how many people were entered in this round?

I’ve noticed that, too. Maybe we can ask for people to have at least ONE post (like an introduction, maybe) before entering a raffle. Just an idea, you can flame me later, I suppose.
Windstone collector in remission. 😉

Yeah, well, you aren’t the only person wondering it…SO everyone can flame on me too…And a few others. I think quite a few people who were lurkers have joined and don’t bother to post just so they can enter the raffles.

I agree WSC. I’m sure most people are just joining the forum so they can enter the raffles… personally I feel a wtf when a name I’ve never seen before wins. Ideally, I would like to see a posting minimum to be able to enter the raffle. Like, 50 or 100+ posts or something like that (of course I know, that would take much more time in that all the names would have to be checked to see how many posts they’ve made… so it’s not practical).
And along with what Griffinlover said… these new members could win, and then create a new name and maybe they have a friend who doesn’t mind having their address used… so then they are technically a new name and address… and because the forum doesn’t know them at all, then we have no way to tell 😕
Just something to think about.September 1, 2009 at 9:47 am #777912Congratulations Satin!

The only problem with the whole IP address thing is that sometimes different members use the same computer. My roomate Brighstar1008, my husband, and I all collect windstones, and we all use the same computer, since it’s the only one we have.
And for the post thing, my husband likes to lurk the forum, since he only has a few pieces and isn’t real social, but he doesn’t like to post. I’m sure there are some people joining the forum just to join the raffles, but that also means most of them actually have to lurk about the forum, since you actually have to read some of the threads to understand how the raffles work, and to even learn about them, I suppose.
There could potentially be a requirement that you have to have been a member for so many months before you can enter the raffle, but again, it’s more work for melody, who may just decide that with all the complaining it might be easier to stop the raffles all together. The problem is that anytime you give something away for free, people will show up to “win it,” sometimes whether they even like the item or not.
I suppose that some of you will say that it’s easy for me to say, since I already won, and I’m sure there are some of you who even doubt I have a roomate. (I can assure you I do, since I don’t like the oriental dragons, and didn’t even enter to win him.) But it seems to me, that some of the older windstone forum members, and more active members may feel a little entitled. And I promise, I’m not trying to start any fights, just pointing out that unless someone comes up with a fair criteria for the raffles, there’s no point in complaing or Melody may just decide it’s not worth the hassle.
