Ugg, that really sucks. They should give you a break.

Purpledoggy that’s like extortion. The power company cannot shut your ower off when you have smeone on essentially a life support system and they are aware of that fact. I’d definately look into legal reprocussions. They can’t surely legally do something like that!

And I hear you about having “too much money” to quality for certain things and yet you’re damn broke. That’s the whole medical system…if you’re on welfare great, all expenses paid…but if you earn any kind of income like a minimum bare bones wage job you don’t get squat! It seems to suggest to people in those situations, bad as it seems, to quit their jobs just to get on welfare to be able to pay their medical bills.

I’ve talked with them till my face is blue and they said it doesn’t matter. Once my bill goes over $1000 they shut you off no matter what. If they ever do shut me off I’m just going to send them the hospital bill since thats where I’ll send my husband till I get my power back. I’m sure it can’t be legal but I can’t afford a lawyer to fight them.

You might be able to get somebody else to cover the lawyer, if you can hook up with a citizen’s rights group in your area. I know that there are groups that deal with this sort of thing. And some lawyers will take a case like that, were you’re just about certain to win, on speculation and take their pay out of the winnings.
