Here is Diego! This is the one that’s been giving me trouble for weeks! ;P Can’t say I’m totally satisfied with the way he turned out…
I based him on an Aplomado falcon – I found a picture of this bird and thought it was so beautiful that I had to do something with it! (this happens to me a lot)
I painted him just for me…though I’m not sure at this point how long I’ll keep him. We’ll see if I like him better after a week of not having to work on him!
He has dark brown eyes, though you can’t see the brown in these pictures very well…there is also subtle tipping to all the dark brown feathers that doesn’t show up all that well.…he’s kind of like chocolate covered pumpkin, huh? ^_^
Here are some detail shots:

He spent a lot of time with my labradorite griffin on my desk…
I’m SO GLAD I don’t have to paint him anymore!!! >_<

Are those dark brown eyes?July 6, 2007 at 10:50 am #595693Beautiful as always, Arlla. I’d never even heard of those birds before, but they’re lovely.
July 6, 2007 at 11:32 am #595694He’s beautiful. Those dark brown eyes are kind of freaky though, especially in that last picture. He’s looks like he’s about to attack.

July 6, 2007 at 3:02 pm #595699So pretty! Most Aplomando Falcons aren’t really that orange- the photo you found was taken at sunset it looks, and it’s casting a nice amber glow on him. http://www.bafrenz.com/birds/Belize03/ApFaX01.htm
So in a way he’s your very own creation! How pretty! And he is every bit as nice as the lab griffin!
