Anyone shipped a scratcher lately? Or a lap? I’m trying to guesstimate shipping costs and I’m getting from $25-50 depending on the shipping service which seems high. (Express mail 2 day service is half the price of priority.. why is that? It’s also the same price as parcel post which is slow!) UPS says 50 too. That seems way too high. I won’t be able to get measurements until I get a box on Monday from work, I’m guessing around 8 pounds with packaging and 20″ box. Again, just guessing, added a few ounces from the store listed weight for packaging and made a guess on box size. Just wondering if anyone’s actually shipped either lately and remembers how much it cost them. Sorry I wrote so long to ask that. Thanks!

I just shipped a Lap to 2Huberts and I think it was something like $39. What was weird was that when she shipped it to me it was only $29. But yes, $25-50 is pretty spot on.
April 26, 2009 at 5:07 pm #762187It seems that shipping is getting way too outrageous anymore. :nea:
April 26, 2009 at 5:29 pm #762188I think it cost me around $19-$21 for priority with only tracking and no insurance last time i shipped one, but I know they hiked the rates again since then 🙄

I shipped a male and mother dragon this past week both listed at 7.25lb in the Windstone store, but after packing and double boxing, the UPS scale said ~8.5 for both, then UPS rounded up to 9lb to charge. Since the scratcher is a tad heavier, you might want to estimate 9lbs over 8lb.
Distance to location affects prices quite a bit 🙁 When I shipped both boxes, sending a 9lb box with sides around ~15″ within New England cost almost identical to ship with UPS and USPS, ~$11. An identical weighted and slightly larger size box from MA to CA was ~$17 UPS or ~$39 by USPS. 😮
April 27, 2009 at 1:26 am #762190Thanks guys, it looks like the cheapest option with insurance is around $25. Thanks for your help
April 27, 2009 at 4:56 am #762191Shipping goes up again in May, I believe. People at work were talking about it. So shipping Windstones might be even more monies in a bit.
April 27, 2009 at 4:02 pm #762192I’ve started using FedEx to ship things. I’ve yet to pay over $20 for the shipping by itself (packing materials are another story, though), even with a declared value/insurance. This was mostly because I couldn’t get to the post office when it was open, but now it’s because they’re just plain cheaper.
April 27, 2009 at 4:07 pm #762193I’ve only done FedEx once…A Unicorn Gargoyle…Can’t remember what it was, but it was a bit over $20…But that is one big arsed piece! 😮
But, if they are cheaper, I may have to go with them since I do have a deliverable address again. It’s the 30 mile drive that deters me. 😮 -
