I brought one of my griffins to the flea market I work weekends at just to test and see the what people would say. (It was the brown one with the dark brown near the eye in my gallery actually) I put a sign that said “sample, taking custom comissions” and the highest offer I got was 25 dollars. When I told them the sculpture cost 40 just to get most either laughed and said good luck getting THAT price OR just rolled their eyes and told me I was a scam artist. Watergazer’s explained the situation very well in other topics. Art is a tough buisness.
Pathetic. Nobody appreciates real unique handiwork anymore.
Not at all. It’s tough, but thatnks to everyone on the forum I’ve painted more in the past 6 months then in the past 5 years combined =)

There are actually a lot of quirky nifty art things in this area which is really kewl. The Catskills are great for stuff too, as well as the Ithaca area. In Massachusetts, there are places in the Berkshires that do take kindly and appreciate art (Great Barrington and Lee have some pretty neat places). I don’t see many places out near my brother in Shrewsbury, MA though. Good thing to know NOT to move to Rhode Island! Move this way!
Oooooh, someday I’ll get to Dragon Con. I’m missing Arisia this year (in Boston) and I don’t know if I can make it to I-Con (Long Island) in the Spring. I generally make it the various Ren Faires though.

Awwww… Well, hopefully we keep you company a little! If anyone is ever down your way we’ll have to kidnap, I mean, rescue you for a day! 8) I’ll make sure I wear my horse tail (from the ren faire) just for good measure. My hair is pretty long and almost the same color. Definitely makes people double take and ask silly questions π
January 12, 2007 at 12:36 am #524859sounds good to me!!! horse tail huh? that is sweet when it matches your hair, looks good! i’ve seen some neat ones on ebay, plus i saw lots o peeps at king richards faire sporting those. do they kill the horsey for it like they do for a sheepskin? i imagine someone was going to do him in anyway, some weird peeps love eating horse, hmm, lol. or leftover from premarin factories. i don’t have a problem with that, as i have a bird wing collection myself (all natural causes-roadkill and cats, lol, hmm ,sort of natural with the car, oh well) just curious.
yes i do get some good company on here, its been making me a little perkier lately, but my b.f. is getting jealous they i have been on a bit! we had a big to do about HIM chatting too much, but now its me! ahh, he needed a taste of his on medicine though, lol.January 12, 2007 at 2:51 am #524860tfsculptures wrote:sounds good to me!!! horse tail huh? that is sweet when it matches your hair, looks good! i’ve seen some neat ones on ebay, plus i saw lots o peeps at king richards faire sporting those. do they kill the horsey for it like they do for a sheepskin?
Nope. The tail is leftover and it’s just making another use for a part that would otherwise just be thrown out. I know a friend who used to work for a leathersmith at one of the faires. He got them in once in a while as they were available (he had a black draft horse tail… much wider, but he was a huge man and wore a kilt with it). He didn’t get a ton of them in and not all that often, so I don’t think he got them from factories. I washed mine with shampoo and conditioner a few times and combed/pulled it out to clean it up (it smelled like a barn π ).

January 12, 2007 at 5:26 am #524863Anthro in this case is short for Anthropomorphic animals. Furries, in other words. Anthrocon is one of the biggest furrycons.
I’ll be there this year!

*points up* Furry-con, yes. π
As for my name, I came up with it in 1993 to create an online identity for role-playing…I’ve never seen Andromeda, but the name “Tyr” is also the Norse God of Justice. π
How far from VA Beach? Well, depending on traffic, anywhere from 30-65 minutes (or more if there’s an accident). If you’re there over the summer, check out the weekly concert series on Fort Monroe. I play in those. π
