My Aunt moved about a year ago and couldn’t possibly take all the stuff she’d accumulated over the years with her…She gave me a box full of various paints and brushes and what not, she was into artsy craftsy stuff. Anyway, in the box were several bottles of these…
I think my sister has the others.
So, the gold one says 14 Venus Pure Metal Leaf Richgold, the other says 3 Venus Karat Gold Leaf
sounds like gold leaf, but I dunno I’ve never seen them before. I’m assuming it’s something like that because they were in the paint box.
So does anyone here know what they are or what they’re used for?
Thanks
πOctober 21, 2007 at 10:09 am #628198Well they are vintage gold leaf (Maybe). Have you tried google? I’ve googled the one and came up with this…
http://www.artglitter.com/images/catalogret.pdfHave you taken the lid off. They could be fine gold leaf powder by the above site.
If they are here is how you use them:
http://www.easyleaf.com/pdf/2008%20ELP%20Price%20List.pdf
Pages 36-38. It’s very interesting how they would be used, I’m going to have to look at that site again (later) I have a powder and I don’t know what to do with it. (Mines mica though, very pretty but hard to work with.)

That second site is the same site I found when I googled it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t playing with something I shouldn’t be. But it looks just like the description on that site, so I think it’s cool.
I have no idea what I’m going to do with them yet, I my try to incorporate them onto my PYO pieces…whenever I get around to starting one.
Thank you Romeodanny π
October 22, 2007 at 1:25 am #628201It looks like the old gold leaf powder. My Dad used to use some of this stuff long ago in his art. Its a lot harder to work with then the leafing for stuff like the PYO. Should be very nice to work with and fun to experiment π
Congrats on such a nice find, those are usually pretty expensive now to buy in the high karat range π

Well I’m going to play with them today.
I wish I hadn’t given my sister the other two bottles of what I had…she says she doesn’t know where they are and that they probably got thrown away >.< and I remember one of them was an 18 K one…stupid sisters…
Thanks everyone π
October 22, 2007 at 5:25 am #628203Nice find, Leigha!
October 22, 2007 at 5:29 am #628204ty ^^ I’m glad I was there the day my aunt was throwing things away! heehee. I played with them, and I like them a lot, they’re glittery! I mixed a bit with some paint and it made it sparkle! though it darkened the color a bit. I mixed it with a bit of antique white I had from same said box, and it makes it shimmer when you move the page π kind of turned it a bit grey though with the flakes in the paint. Still don’t know how I want to incorporate t into my PYO’s but it’s so awesome π
