OK. Sorry to be an English teacher suddenly, but this is my one pet peeve. “Irregardless” is not a word. The word is “regardless.”
Thanks for my outbreak and and not back to the regularly scheduled programming. π
December 3, 2007 at 2:56 pm #641548I asked the seller and she says the dragon has a felt pad and was purchased in 1986. So old, but not the first batch.
December 3, 2007 at 3:25 pm #641549Irregardless is nonstandard, but it is a word now!

My art: featherdust.comDecember 3, 2007 at 3:41 pm #641550Back in college on of my literature professors described the english language as a “thief in the night” who would mug other languages, take words for our own use and sneak off into the night. π Basically she felt the english language was nothing more than a hodge-podge of stolen grammar. π
December 3, 2007 at 5:51 pm #641551This is the part of that webpage I find interesting. π
Quote:Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.

π π Oh, that’s a great description! I wish I could find the quote . . . there was an author who described English as the result of Norman men-at-arms trying to make dates with Anglo-Saxon barmaids. There was more to it than that, but basically it agreed that English is just a mad casserole of words from dozens of linguistic sources . . . which is why its rules and guidelines are never set in stone and there are always exceptions. If you’re a native English speaker, you can manage, but Lord help folks who are trying to learn the blasted tongue as a second language! π
December 3, 2007 at 7:08 pm #641553yes everyone is correct!!
The real OLD Green and Browns that have no Felt pad on the bottoms should have a stamp directly on the bottom of the piece itself. If the felt pad was there but fell off or got damaged and removed you will still not have a stamp on the bottom of the piece itself. Any of the Original Green piece are old except for the new ones they are painting now like the Green Curl dragon I’m here at Windstone to pick up right nowDecember 3, 2007 at 8:50 pm #641554I’m considering getting her, since I really like her colors, she’d be the first double up sculpture ever if I do. Mostly I only collect things I don’t have a sculpture of already, regardless of color.

I held the picture of this dragon side by side with my old mother, the one you repaired for me. She looks just like my old mother. Don’t know if that helps.
December 4, 2007 at 8:26 pm #641556The only doubles I have is the old green male. I’ve got one that’s the super bright, newer green and one that is reeeeeeaaally old and doesn’t have a felt pad. They look like two totally different colors. π I love them both.

Thanks. The one on eBay does have a felt pad, making it a bit newer than yours, but still, she’s really pretty.

Hehe… No worries. I know it’s not a standard word (I usually use regardless when typing), but when I’m tired and dad is distracting me, grammar sometimes goes out the window (except for commas – I think I overuse them… need to find my little Brown English book again) π
Carry on everyone… nothing to see here but an older green dragon π
