I just got my light-beak black griffin mama today. She’s my 3rd female griff… and I JUST noticed that her ear touches her wing. Now, my brown mama just came out of the box for pictures, but my pearl one was on display for a couple months. And even when searching for the “easter eggs” on her, I never noticed. Anybody else in my boat? Who’s steering?

On a side note, I really like the differences in color from my male and chicks (the brown tip was my only objection). But her talons are darker, her rear feet more gray than white, not as much blue on the wings, the bridge (nostril part?) of her beak is darker, AND she doesn’t seem as glossy as her mate (hard to tell; I’m going by a picture). She’s pretty, but I like that she’s a bit more “blah” than him, as female birds often are.

I’ve got to find some glue though… the bigger tail jewel fell out as I was removing her from the bag. Sure glad I found it on the floor before my cat did!

The black is my third mama, too and I never noticed her ear touching her wing either. I look at them 10x a day, too. πŸ™„ πŸ˜†

Hmm, I only have the wolf and now the blk violet mamas. Both have ears touching wings.

However, my blk mama also arrived missing her large rump ring jewel. It wasnt in the plastic or box so I imagine is fell as they were packing her. Still, Susie sent off a replacement jewel for me. Hope I can get it to sit in there right!

I noticed the ear touching the wing when I got my first mother griffin. However, when I first started collecting the feathers on the back of the wings on the dragons caught me by surprise.

I got one of the dark-tipped beaked female black griffins, and I like her much better than my male. She has more color on her wings, her beak looks better with the dark tip, and I like the fact that her talons are shaded and antiqued. I kind of wish that there were some males done this way.

Well, if you ever want to sell and give up your male… 😈

There are feathers on the dragons? Where? I’m apparently too dazzled by all my shinies to notice these kind of details, even with a mirror-backed curio . And all I have at my house right now are curlies.

Feathers on the backs of the dragon wings… πŸ˜‰

                I didn’t know it until I owned one! πŸ˜‰

Yep, the feathers are on the back of the wings. The curlies have them too. Take a look. I thought it was really neat when I first noticed it.

Ah! I can see them. Hmm… I noticed the difference there before too, but feathers didn’t even cross my mind. So I guess I was being blonde instead of blind! (true enough, though I do dye)

Ok, I don’t have any female griffs, so I’m a little confused. Did the ear never used to touch the wing or something?

No, it has always touched. It just took me 10 months & getting a 3rd one to notice. 😳 πŸ˜†

Oh! OK- Im with Pam on this. I thought you were originally saying that the female griffs never had ears touching wings but that the new ones do. Thats why I said my wolf has her ears touching. OK- der- my blonde moment! πŸ˜• πŸ˜›

Yeah it took me a few years to notice the feathers on the dragon wings…… and I’m and natural brunette!

The ear touching the wing was the first thing I noticed on Melody’s pic of the prototype. πŸ˜†
It took me a while to notice the feathers on the dragons, though. Like, a few hours. πŸ˜›
