I have more, but I’ll just tell you of the current one. In our house, we have an upstairs apartment that we don’t rent out. My husband’s office and art studio is up there. Years before, my husband had lived up there while his ex-wife had lived in our section with her boyfriend. My husband had a black cat named Rhiannon. The upstairs is also where I have my geek shelving and packaging area, and store my Windstones and other goods for selling at conventions. Sometimes when I’m up there I’ll see a black cat out of the corner of my eye. When I look directly at it, it either runs away or turns to vapor and disapates. My cat Katie is a mostly black torty, but none of the cats are allowed upstairs. I think it’s Rhiannon, trying to scare me. She was always very possessive of the hubby when she was alive. Our step-daughter stays up there when we have her and one morning she asked if Katie got upstairs the night before because she thought she saw a black cat. There’s been other things, like buckets found in the middle of the floor and things like that. But mostly she just appears and stares at me long enough to make me uncomfortable. I always tell her, “Stare all you want, Rhiannon. I’m not leaving.” That usually makes her stop.
January 29, 2007 at 3:38 pm #532807Weird! I’ve never seen any ghosts and if I did I’d probably pass it off with a natural explanation. Our old shepherd dog ‘Rousch’ probably won’t last much longer. I wonder if her ghost will haunt this old house after she’s gone?

Definitely! That’s a really good idea. I’m suspecting that lamortefille would be able to record those voices, since that would be consistent with the physical manifestations she’s seeing, like things getting moved.
It would be very interesting to try, but with all of the birds here, I doubt if anything else would be picked up on the tape.
January 29, 2007 at 5:47 pm #532809Wow emerald — that’s really eerie. If that thing with getting pushed in bed happened to me, I would get really freaked out.
January 30, 2007 at 12:31 am #532810Me too!!! 😯
January 30, 2007 at 3:03 am #532811That a girl – stand your ground Emerald. I have told our ghost to leave off teasing Shadow and it seems to have helped. He’s old and I don’t want him to have a heart attack or something.
January 30, 2007 at 3:17 am #532812ok…here’s mine
one is very similar to emerald’s…but there are a few
when I was younger I was sitting on our sofa…and i thought my sister was sitting in the chair next to me…and started talking to her…well my mom came in the room and asked who I was talking to….so I turned around and no one was sitting in the chair…
few years later I went down our hallway to the bedroom and saw someone in there doing their hair….I had to go to the bathroom but had to wait since someone was in there….after waiting forever went back and they were still doing their hair…but weren’t really there…basically see through…
so I decided I didn’t have to use the bathroom anymore…the one that’s like emerald’s is really weird….I was sleeping then all of a sudden I head something….and felt someone get in the bed…from the side where there’s no space to walk around to…and I woke up to turn around but could not move…something had frozen me in place…and then I couldn’t breath…I was trying to pull back the covers but knew if I did something bad would happen…and all of a sudden the covers flew back and I could move…I was hot and could barely breath…and if felt like something was watching me….but I looked and nothing was there..
the most recent was after my mom died…happened to my sister…she could hear my mom in the bathroom every night getting sick…saying she was never going to get any better…that stopped about 6 months later…
January 30, 2007 at 3:37 am #532813Kind of like Frozen’s mom re-experiencing her illness: I got visited by my dad, too, the night after he died, but it was in a dream. He still visits me sometimes and always has something important to tell me. About the time I figure out that he’s not supposed to be there because he’s dead and he’s about to tell me the important something is when I wake up. He died in 1997 and it’s been going on ever since that first night. And I still don’t know what the important message is.
January 30, 2007 at 3:46 am #532814I’m apparently as psycically sensitive as a rock! I lived in a house that was supposedly haunted, and I never felt or saw or heard anything at all. My roommate at the time did though, she was jumpy and twitchy for the first several months, and eventually actually had the place exorcised! It still seemed exactly the same to me afterwards though.
January 30, 2007 at 7:20 am #532815These are cool!
I’ve only had one weird thing happen to me that I can remember…I was lying in bed on my top bunk..I think I was around 19 or 20…I was dozing off, but wasn’t quite asleep. I was consciously thinking about things, this and that, on the verge of napping. I felt a presence, and made to wake up fully and sit up, but I couldn’t move. It felt like something was holding me completely imobile. I can rememebr my brain trying to tell my body “okay, move NOW” and I couldn’t even open my eyes. I panicked, though there was nothing I could do about it…it lasted probably 15 or 20 seconds, but that’s a long time when you’ve lost control of your movement. I have learned since then that this is actually something that happens when bits of you go to sleep before other bits in your brain…I think it’s called sleep paralysis?? But it sure FELT like something otherworldly was happening to me!!
My dad says he had a real experience. He was at home working on the computer when he got the very vivid olfactory memory of his dad’s cigar smoke. He said it was like his dad was in the same room smoking, that’s how strong and real the smell was. A bit later, he got a call saying that his father had just died from heart complications….My dad is pretty no nonsense and doesn’t believe in much he can’t see or feel, so I believe him when he says it happened. If it wasn’t the spirit of his father, I think it at least means that we have strong non-physical connections to those we are close to.

-J R R TolkienJanuary 30, 2007 at 8:22 am #532816Hm, that sleep thing isn’t so weird. Two weeks ago on Thursday I stayed up until past midnight. The next day I had school and ended up actually going to sleep during a 10-minute break in economics. It was an honest-to-goodness deep sleep. When the teacher handed out papers and nudged me saying it was time for sales tax equations, I heard him. I heard my friends laugh behind me. My brain was awake, I was aware, but my body was still fast asleep and I couldn’t move. For a moment it freaked me out until all the circuits got running and I could raise my head. In my case it was perfectly natural. Don’t go to bed at one in the morning and get up four hours later as usual. 😀

January 30, 2007 at 9:46 pm #532818It’s darned disconcerting, I can say that much!! It’s only happened to me the once…which is probably strange, as I keep stupid, irregular sleeping hours all the time. My poor body is almost always suffering from either sleep deprevation or serious over sleeping!

-J R R TolkienJanuary 30, 2007 at 11:26 pm #532819That sleep thing has happened to me too, but mostly when I was a kid. That hasn’t happened in a long time. Now, I have muscle twitches that make the bed jerk – and I may have a dream of falling or something like that at the same time. Hit the ground – BAM – bed jerks.
January 30, 2007 at 11:43 pm #532820You know I had the strangest thing happen to me. I got a call while I was at work, my Grandma was dying. I had to stay and get my work done before I left. My Grandma was in Owen Sound. That’s a two hour drive. I wasn’t ready to go on the day I got the call. I had to do laundry after work, and then I would have to round up my sisters and drive all of us up to Owen Sound. I don’t drive well in the dark. So I decided that I would go the next day. It took me forever to get to sleep. When I did my Grandma came into my dream. We talked a bit. Then she told me that she was very proud of me and that she had to go. I said good bye, I love you and I’ll miss you. We hugged, then she was gone. She was right there in my room. At least that’s what it felt like. I woke up immediatly and looked at the clock. It was 2:10am.
I drove up the next morning with my sisters. And found out when we got there that she had died during the night. After a few hours I pulled my mom aside and told her that I already knew and that I said goodbye to her. But, I didn’t tell her what time. I found out later that it was just before 2:10 that she passed away. When I found out I felt such peace about her passing because I said goodbye to her.
I’ve had weird things happen all the time around me, I guess I’m just used to it. -
