I’ve had two people tell me that they’ve received boxes where the brown reinforced paper tape was a little torn. I’m trying to figure out which kind of boxes these were so that we can tape them up better so nothing escapes (nothing has escaped yet – I just want to make sure nothing escapes! some of these animals are wiggley) If you’ve received a package that looks as though we could have taped it up a little better, please let me know – I’d like to know about what size it was, and it it was it one of the Post Office boxes or a plain brown one. We also need to know if the tape we are using isn’t as strong as it should be. Any input would be helpful! thanks!

Although the package inside was a little wiggly. Like there wasn’t enough packing peanuts in the outer box. Or they got squished. And I can’t blame customs because they didn’t open it (and charged me $16 for not opening it, either).

My boxes have been fine tape wise too…If it is the kind of tape that you dampen, or has a dampener on it, perhaps it just didn’t get the tape wet enough on a couple packages. I did have one with loose tape way back when, but it wasn’t enough for it to be a problem. But mostly, if I have a complaint, it’s that the PYO’s aren’t packed tight enough in their inner boxes. I’ve had a Griffin, Keeper and a Ki-Rin show up that had the tops of their heads against the box sides. π Also, I wish you guys would/could use the fitted boxes for the Uni PYO’s again…I felt much safer with the ones with fitted inserts. Course, maybe those were an exception to the rule. π
Otherwise, nothing else can I complain about. π
Susie, you guys do so much to keep us happy…As long as things get to me in one piece, I am happy. :hi:May 21, 2010 at 3:42 am #815460I haven’t had any issues with the tape myself either, but I’d have to agree with WC about using the inserts for the PYO unicorn again. I’d love to see inserts for all of the PYO’s actually. Those who sell our painted PYOs would find it easier to pack them safely for their buyers π .
May 21, 2010 at 6:29 pm #815461Thank you! I see we have some stuff to work on. I hope more people contribute to this thread.
The packing peanuts do compress in travel, so the inner box can be a little loose in there, but most of products are packed so well in their inner boxes that this is not an issue. If a small, less padded, product box migrates to the box wall because the peanuts are loose, that is bad.
We had honeycomb cardboard inserts for the PYO Unicorn but they hadn’t been perfected and we stopped using them because we were getting breakage. This is why we have been using just the bubble wrap on them. No part of any of the PYO’s should ever be against the box wall without a nice layer of bubble wrap between it and the box. Is the bubble wrap scootching around in there? Are these animals frolicking in their boxes and kicking the covers aside? Do we need to tape the bubbles in place? Any thoughts on this?
May 21, 2010 at 11:02 pm #815462I’ve had a couple of boxes where the tape starting to rip. Usually on the bottom…usually just one side…the thread was all that was holding that end closed. But I’m sure that is from the postal people. π

Yeah, they can beat the hell out of a package can’t they? :negative:
May 22, 2010 at 4:53 am #815464Well the inner package on mine was awesome (it was a form) so the dragon was perfect.
Only time I got a package with bad tape was when customs opened up my amethyst curlie…. their tape didn’t stick so well (but again, the dragon inside was perfect).
May 22, 2010 at 1:47 pm #815465Mine have all been very well taped, whether brown or white boxes. Can’t say anything about the PYO’s as all I have is a muse, who was pretty well crammed into his inner box. (How DO you get all that paper in there? Once I unwrap the sculpts, I have a problem getting JUST the paper back into the boxes!) I’ve yet to see any PYO other than the Muses available in the store. π

Practice! Honestly it does take practice. I’ve never had much problem with getting the paper back in the boxes, but that could be because I’ve had lots of practice over the years with unwrapping/wrapping fragile Christmas ornaments.

LOL! Yeah, well I can get the paper back in too. I find it is easiest to unroll, unfold and generally straighten it out as carefully as you can, then fold it in a way that makes it small enough to fit back into the box, stick the baggie with it, and wahla! Done. Then when you are ready to re wrap, or if you have need to wrap it back up in the paper, you just put it in the baggie, and unfold the paper and wrap it like a Subway sandwich artist! π
But, I have moved my Windstones 7 times since the collection got big enough I couldn’t fit the whole thing in one crammed up car load! (They stopped fitting in a 94 ford Taurus around 50 count…Last move it took 4 car loads. (Packed from seats to roof all but the driver’s side, and the trunk was stuffed…Tetris style! XDMay 22, 2010 at 2:23 pm #815468AnonymousSusie, I have never had issues with anything I bought from you guy’s… Infact I just got a pyo griffin and Kirin… both in the same box… and my four year old thought it would be funny to push the box off the bed ( a 4 foot drop) and everything was just fine ~ Great job on the packing as always! π

I think the Griffin might have shifted around in the wrap, considering usually they are somewhat located in the middle. But the Uni I got that was rubbing, well I think it’s the horn popping through the bubble wrap more than scootching anywhere. Maybe the weight of the unicorn itself makes it able to shift and poke through (Because even UPS shifts boxes around, and all it takes is a fast flip or whatnot for those sharp little horns to go right through. Most of the bags they come in to me have horn holes in them.). I got one Uni with the cardboard inserts, and it was the safest feeling I had for shipping him off finished. I really despised sending the other one off without the inserts. I hope you guys can perfect those in the future. The griffins and whatnot, I can deal with adding a few extra peanuts and bubbles to when I send. Same for the wolves. I haven’t bought a muse, but I imagine if I ever have reason to, I will be perfectly fine with it when the time comes. I honestly think the Phoenix will be your most difficult challenge because of the neck and wings. Those you may want to perfect a box before you put them on the market…Just my 2 cents though. π
But, no really Susie, you guys do a bang up job most times with packing. The only broken thing I got straight from you was a Griffin who made it past inspection with a flaw, got bagged, tagged, and sent to me. Heck, I didn’t see the chip in his eyebrow until I had already painted him, and I always check first. Therefore, I cannot complain too much. (I just really miss the box with fitted inserts for the Unicorns is all. π³ )
Oh, and I had my Castles of the Merry Ghost’s top spire snap off in a move, in it’s formed box. I am still not sure how that happened. π πMay 22, 2010 at 10:29 pm #815470WindstoneCollector wrote:pegasi1978 wrote:Thrippa wrote:(How DO you get all that paper in there? Flattening the paper is exactly what I do. Only thing I do different it seems is fold the paper up and stick it in the baggie, then put the baggie in the box.
