The color is bad in both the auction pictures. Can both NicoleH and 49ER’s friend (or 49ER) confirm the color as jade or emerald when the pieces arrives? That way I can list them in the database properly.“Emerald” on left, “Jade” on right. Pipsxlch has/had both of these.
I was watching it and was tempted, but I AM SO tapped out after buying all the flap cats this week and on top of that getting robbed. Congrats to who won it though! It looks lovely!

That sure would be something if it turned out to be the only orange eye’d jade 😀 I’m pretty sure the eyes looked red. The seller said they shipped him out today and He is also in CA so hopefully I have him by the end of the week or by monday.
ok, I am confused–why do people think this is Jade? The box was 506-E, which would seem to indicate it was an Emerald Scratcher to me, not Jade, and the colors looked Emerald also. Is there another auction for a Jade one that I did not see, that was won, and if so, could that be posted? The link that Koishi posted was the one that I asked the seller about the eye color. 😕
The jade’s were supposed to be emerald’s but were painted differently for some reason for a short time at the factory before the paint scheme was corrected, im not the expert on this story. The boxes would have been marked as emerald even if the piece is a jade. The color in the photo in the auction made the piece seem more bright green but the gold shading on the piece is definitly characteristic of a jade scratcher.
Yupo. Jades are emeralds and were listed as emeralds…but some one painted them differently.
the official emerald has brigher green, and no really dark gold. the gold is placed differently too. on the jades, there is a gold stripe on each side of the back.
we call them Jade’s instead because the dominent color on them is the same green used on the Jade Orientals and Coilds.

I’ve never heard of an orange-eyed emerald (or Jade) scratcher. The only orange-eyed emeralds I’m familiar with are the orignally family pieces (hatchling, mother, male, young and emperor).
If you look at the picture in my post at the top of the page you can see the color differences between the Emerald and the “Jade” scratchers. Officially the “Jades” are listed as Emerald, but since the difference is so striking (usually) they have been dubbed Jade by collectors like us (and have even referred to as Jade by several folks at Windstone).
Just checking to see if the scratchers have arrived at their new homes yet and if they are actually emeralds or jades. Comparison picture at top of page.
