So yeah…I dabble in breyer CMs. But I am not show quality good. I have no idea what I need to get that far, I have never seen any breyer customs in person besides mine. Anyway here are my customs so far…nothing amazing. Although I really love that dragon custom..wish I had kept him. I need to make another.

Your customs are lovely, Whippetluv. I’m assuming the dragon is the rearing black and gold horse? And does the first horse have a folded bat wing? I can’t tell but I really like the pose.

Actually the bat winged one is the one I call my Dragon. The black and gold is a bad kirin. ha!

Here are some more pictures where you can see the wings better. OH and thanks!

Welcome! Another Model horse artist joins the fold! πŸ˜€

I can’t wait to get more PYOs under my belt… I just have so many horses that are screaming at me…

And Water… I think you should still go for it! Who CARES how smoothe they are! Try it out… see what you can do… and go from there! you don’t HAVE to sell them… you don’t have to go to shows. πŸ˜€ Just paint them to learn and have fun! πŸ˜€ That’s how *I* started out!!! πŸ˜€

OMG Whippit I LUV that Elk custom!! He is too cool!!

The “remakes” are popular on eBay. Even if it’s just a fairly simply resculpted mane and tail collectors really seem to eat that up! I think you’ve got great skills, if you’re into painting them you should do it more! I can’t resculpt worth a crap!

And yes I am really into the artist resins. I am not a huge Arabian fan so the Keeling stuff does not always appeal to me. But I would love to have a traditional size Forever Ali in my collection one day! Now her sister, Debbie Lermond, I LUV some of her sculptures!

OMG I know, some of those resins are so crazy high. I unfortunatly have a taste for Sarah Rose sculptures and that can drain a bank account and max out a credit card SO quick. Of course I mostly buy unpainteds as investments to repaint and sell, but regardless it is still very expensive. Buying a PYO Windstone for $35 seems like a steal to me because I’m so used to shelling out hundreds of dollars for an unpainted resin.

Honestly… the BEST thing about Windstones that I have found…

ZERO prep-work! No seams… no airholes… no nothin!!!! I love it! I can primer it and paint away!!!! πŸ˜€ Simple… easy… effective!

Now I just need to get my butt moved so I can paint more….

BTW… LOVE your hippogryph! Why did you paint him? he’s AWESOME!!!! πŸ˜€

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

            Welcome πŸ™‚
I’ve painted a few Breyers as gifts in my youth but never gave them natural coloring.

            A few pics

            Another

            And a baby

Your horses are lovely, Unicornlvr, so is your Hippogriff. Will be nice to see your PYOs πŸ™‚

I like those horses Lokie and Whippet. And Welcome to the forum UL.

Nice Lokie! Ya, I’m getting out of the resin horse hobby- they are WAY too expensive for my modest income. I only seem to like arabians and draft horses, notably haggis, and forever ali is my holy grail- but I DID pay $750 for a Padron by some super high priced painter that I can’t remember at this second. Thank God for time payments.

Thanks!! I just repainted him because he was given to me in trade credit by a horse customer of mine. She owed me money and offered me some windstone bodies. The Hippogriff didn’t have his red candlelamp anymore, and when he came in he had some scratches on the finish. No breaks though. I’ve got two unicorn bodies too but I was thinking I may just repaint them and keep them to show in the fantasy classes at the live shows in my region. I dunno, I haven’t really decided yet what to do with them. πŸ˜‰

Loki I like your fantasy customs! I’m not that creative when it comes to fantasy model horse paintjobs. I am so used to doing normal horse colors. I think that is why my hippogriff came not quite so “fantasy” in color. He is just bay…a horse color.:P Crazy colors will me some getting used to.

Yeah I know a lot of people who are getting out of resins and even the custom hobby. People who are paying these outrageous amounts of money for high name paintjobs are realizing that they usually can not make money back on their investment if they need to resell it. With the original finish horses you usually can at least make what you paid for it, but on the customs and resins the market is always extremely up and down. What resin is popular for a few months will suddenly die down in popularity the next six month. Example: That Saddlebred resin called “Lord of the Ring”. He was going for like $1k at one point (unpainted), and awhile back I saw him on the MH$P for $400 unpainted. Crazy…. πŸ™„
