I’m looking to contact someone from Holland or near there. I traveled to Europe a couple of years ago and found a great inexpensive fruity wine (Frambesso (Vruchtenwijn)). I cannot fine a importer in the US and wanted to find someone who would be willing to ship some for either money and/or Windstone trade.
All leads would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have some relatives that live in Holland, but I have heard that shipping alcohol is illegal. I am not sure if that would apply to wine as well or if is just hard liquor. If you find out about that (maybe someone else would know) then I might be able to contact them.April 18, 2008 at 2:41 pm #690723dragonessjade wrote:SilverArrow wrote:I’m looking to contact someone from Holland or near there. It could explain why I haven’t been able to find it in a store here. I’ll look into it.
April 19, 2008 at 3:09 am #690724Foreign liquor can be gotten in the US, but depends on a lot of things: What’s in it, treaties with countries, etc. You can’t ship alcohol into the US, but it can come in via a distributor. Many foreign alcohol brands have no distributor, especially if they are only produced in a small area, or a single country. Case in point: Becherovka, an appertif from the Czech Republic. Six years ago, my friends brought in some from when they went on a college trip (I went in 2005) to the country. You couldn’t get it in the states unless you or someone you knew bought it over there and got it here. Now, there is a distributor (I know my choral prof. worked on this – he is native Czech) and I have found it in at least one bar and I know of at least one store (and NOT in a major city!) that carries it (which reminds me, I’m low and need to seriously stock up again… it works better than pepto on my tummy). You can also get stuff couriered into the states, but you’d need to find a service that would do that, as well as be prepared to pay far more than the alcohol in the first place (think $100s). The company may also just not have the means or desire to market to a larger audience either if it is a smaller distiller. Your best bet on this is to contact the company and see if they market to a larger audience, or contact a distributor to see if this is something they might try to acquire for you. You’ll likely have to pay for an entire case though – if it’s a new item for them, they may not want to take the risk and just sell you a single bottle and be stuck with the rest. Depends on how well they do. If I end up going any time soon (I may… don’t know yet), I’d be happy to bring back a bottle for you.
