…who want to talk about their jobs? I’m seriously looking into signing up in July/August. Right now I’m looking into Southwest Airlines and Continental (American Airlines isn’t hiring and I’m not sure Delta is either) I LOVE flying and its always been my dream to see the world.
Continental seems a little more “stiff” and strict, but they fly out of the Country, where as Southwest doesn’t. One reason I want to do it is so I can see my boy after he leaves for his year long Army trip to South Korea in June, more than once in that year, and another reason is mentioned above…I just love flying. I figured if I ever wanted to do this, I should take advantage of Kyle’s absence because when he comes back to the states (North Carolina) in June of 2008, and comes home for good in Sep 2010, I want to spend as much time with him as I can at HOME. I can ‘spread my wings’ so to speak, while he’s gone.
I’ve only recently decided this, so I don’t know EVERYTHING obviously…but I’m kind of worried that if I sign on with Continental Airlines, I may have to relocate. I don’t mind staying in a hotel for 2 or 3 days, but I can’t move to another city.
They also mention being able to speak a second language…I know enough French(6 years of classes), but its been a year since I’ve actively spoken any, and I’m super rusty.
On the other side, South West Airlines seems more friendly and easy-going since they only even go to select cities in the US…but I’d probably have to fly to Korea on my own dime…which, I don’t remember where Kyle said he’d be, but even a plane ticket from Houston to Seoul runs $1250. 😯 day-um. That would be a whole month’s pay, or, if I’m able to NOT work on weekends, I can keep my current job (which Im hoping to do) and in that case, it will STILL be half a month’s salary.
Even if you just know someone who is a FA, and can bring some info to the table, I’d be more than happy to listen 🙂
March 21, 2007 at 11:44 am #553875No offense to anyone out there in the Military…But why can’t we get you guys all home? I’d love to see my cousin come home before he gets killed. He’s been hurt twice and went right back. I’m not sure that he’s mentally sound anymore… 😉
March 21, 2007 at 12:04 pm #553876That’s a fact, WSC. But I don’t wanna turn this thread political. 😛
March 21, 2007 at 10:06 pm #553877Agreed too WSC, and agreed to GB
March 21, 2007 at 10:27 pm #553878I have a friend in my music fraternity that was a flight attendant for a number of years (back when you wore go-go boots as part of the uniform!). I’ll ask if she knows how it is now. She flew on a lot of the major airlines. 🙂
