I’m having a lot of trouble getting a color blending gradation on my wolf. I’m trying to make an area go from brown to tan to ivory and having no luck. Everytime I try, it just gets muddy on me. I’m using the golden fluids & the golden retarder. I ended up mostly just painting over it, but left the chest the light/muddy combo. I’ll post pics when I get back this afternoon, maybe y’all can give me some pointers…
I’m headed off to micheals later to get some paints for the wings of my wolf and maybe some interference too….
Here’s what I do…have your three colors on hand and use them all at one time to get a smooth blend. Start with your lightest color, ivory…which I assume is the wingtip. Paint the tip ivory all the way to the point you want your blend to begin, and just a little bit over that, then dip your still-ivory-laden brush into your next color, tan, and with just a little bit of the new color on your brush go ahead and brush onto the area you want the new color to gradient. To get the gradient smooth you will need to add more ivory paint over the tan, and visa vera until it’s smooth and just the way you want it. By then your brush will probably be mostly all tan paint. Keep your paints wet and work this kinda fast, then continue the tan color up to the point you want your last color to begin, the brown…and do the same thing over again. If you ever wet your brush, make sure it is asy dry as you can make it before proceding with blending because sometimes water pushes the paint around rather than helps you smooth things out.
