I just got throught with Anime LA at the airtel hotel in Van Nuys. I had a blast even though last night and today I’ve been sick. I love looking at everybody’s costumes and dressing up myself. I talked to some people that collected windstones and got to wondering if conventions would be a good market for windstones.
I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~

Engaged to a WeaselJanuary 29, 2007 at 5:35 am #533649Drag0n and Arlla talk about them a lot… But I’ll let them answer for themselves. π
January 29, 2007 at 6:04 am #533650I do AnimeNorth and the Fan Expo and I think it might be worth thinking about because my friend sells dragon sculptures at anime cons and seems to have no problem selling her beauties ^_^
January 31, 2007 at 10:18 pm #533651Yeah, it probably would be a good idea. It couldn’t hurt to try. π
February 1, 2007 at 6:19 am #533652I went to my first one in this past November; it was Nekocon 9! π
I’m definitely going to more when they come around and definitely the next Nekocon.February 1, 2007 at 8:34 pm #533653I really only make it to Anime Weekend Atlanta. Of course that is local for me but I’ve seen dragons in the dealers room there and people selling fantasy so I don’t know why it wouldn’t work.
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
February 1, 2007 at 10:48 pm #533654WAHHHHHHHH! Anime Boston 2007! I CAN’T WAIT! WOOT!!! I’ve gone every year. I got to bring my dog Ein to Conneticon 2 years ago and of course he was able to cosply as Ein from Cowboy Bebop =)
Don’t go to Otakon! Otakon IS AWFUL! It’s the biggest anime convention in the country, but is SO ENORMOUS it is a giant disaster. I guess there is such a thing as TOO MANY anime fangirls =) I was dressed as Hero and my friend was Suichi from Gravitation and we got prctically beat up by crazy glompers! LOL!
I LOVE cosplaying! It’s so much fun! I have like 10 different costumes so far π Honestly, I don’t think Windstone would do well though. People go there for rare anime imports from Japan and most of the time they don’t have alot of money anyway. That’s just me, PERSONALLY I’d LOVE to see some Windstones at a con! I just don’t think the anime community as a majority would embrace it as I would though.

So. Much. Fun. And so many things to spend money on…..
Hmmm…Windstone’s might do okay…there have been a whole lot of fairy booths popping up at AX…mostly prints and artwork, though, no sculpture…who knows.

-J R R TolkienFebruary 2, 2007 at 1:19 am #533656I went to Dragon*Con (in Atlanta) back in 1998. I had a blast. Dragon*Con is a SciFi/Fantasy convention. I do remember meeting a few people in the dealer’s room that had some Windstones they were selling. In fact I still have a flier with an address on the back. Wonder if they are still a retailer.
*Goes to dig out flier and compare to list of current retaliers* Drats I guess The Dragon’s Lair of Andover, MA, stopped carrying them since then.
February 2, 2007 at 2:31 am #533657I’m hoping to go to Anime Boston this year if I can. I’ve never been before. I usually go to Arisia (a Sci/Fi/gaming convention in Boston), but I haven’t been able to go the last 2-3 years. Friends of mine go to Otakon, but I have to agree with dragonfeathers. They seem to enjoy themselves, but it’s gotten so big that I’d rather go someplace else.
At anime conventions, people tend want to buy anime and Japanese related stuff. Sci/Fi conventions have a lot of dragon, sword, fantasy art and stuff that I think windstones would do well. People bring lots of money just to spend at these conventions.

I was supposed to go to Arisia last year, but I ended up skipping it. Anime Boston is by far the best con I’ve ever been too. You should definately go!!! You can come hang in my hotel room! LOL! SPark is making me a killer costume this year for it =D I don’t know what else I’m going to cosplay as though.

Ooh… I would like to go this year. Not sure if I will be able to get a costume in time though. Most of my stuff is all ren garb, other than my gi. It’s also hard to hide my hair (Wigs don’t always fit right.. I’ve got a lot π ). The only characters I can come up with involve costumes I don’t think I can get by April (Rukia from Bleach, Kikyo or Inuyasha from Inuyasha, Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, and a few ideas that will take this year to make). I’d be there Saturday and Sunday if I go. I work until midnight Friday night in the Albany area. Hmm…. maybe I’ll have to go now π

Yea, wigs suck. I have a TON of hair so what I did was buy one of those latex skin cap things for professional swimmers. It actually worked really good and the wig stays in place really well, but the thing is so tight it squishes your head!
All this costumes are relitively simple. I got my Fuu (from Samurai Champloo) and my Hawkeye uniform (from Fullmetal) from people who make them professionally on ebay. Honestdragon made my Fuu one it was nice, but totally the wrong colors, but my Hawkeye one was KILLER! I forget who made it though. Trying to hide all my black hair under a blonde wig ruined the effect though, BAH! I got a nice schoolgirl uniform from DNAngel once from qq cosplay. They’re pretty good. Shipping was SO EXPENSIVE though.
I always stay all 3 days. You should come! You can crash in my hotelroom with me and my b/f. Chances are some other people I know will too. hehe.
