Judging from the repair pictures of another black griffin Kyrin fixed… I think she might be your best bet for help on this one.
Thanks…Yeah that crossed my mind already…I think I’m just really worried to send him back out again, just incase something happens again.. 😕
Well, what I would do is put the broken pieces in a plastic baggie with some padding. Then take that guy, and wrap him in several layers of bubble wrap… tape it down, and stick him in a box with lots of packing peanuts. Take that box and put it another with more packing materials. If you do that… then he can’t possibly be harmed anymore than he already is. The trick is making sure that there is enough packing in there so that the item will not budge at all when being moved or carried. I always do a gentle shake of a package I’m shipping out to make sure there is no movement before I tape it up and send it away.

I do the same thing…what you described above is how I package all of the stuff that I send out, but I think i’m still is a little bit of shock…ao I am all worried, maybe if I sleep on it, I’ll be in a different mind set tommorrow.
I have already been in touch with Kyrin so hopefully it all works out.
I think tho I’ll just wait till I hear back from the seller on ebay becasue I also emailed him.
Thank you tho…I really appreciate all your suggestions.Marzena
August 25, 2007 at 6:43 am #611496I’m so sorry. 🙁
August 25, 2007 at 10:52 am #611497I am sorry about your griffin. I hope you got insurance. The seller obviously did the right thing by double boxing. Sometimes accidents just happen. 🙁 I think you should claim the insurance and get your money back from the post office if its not the sellers fault.

Only problem with that, Ski, is that the griffon will get taken away and thrown out if mmloda claims the insurance. He’s not that badly damaged, it would really be a shame to see him tossed out like trash.
So unfair really, they should let you keep the item. I don’t really see a good reason for taking it and throwing it away. Insurance should also be to get the item repaired, rather than declared a total loss.

I’m not sure if that is how it works exactly, I was in touch with USPS today and the seller is the one that has to put in the claim, I forwarded him some pics and I honestly don’t think that USPS will come and pick the griffin up….but I might be wrong. So i’ll just wait for a little bit and see.
Oh and Kyrin I just wanted to let you know that I will be sending the griffin your way to get him repaired as long as USPS does not want him back, but I’ll PM once he is on his way…..I just really hope he doesn’t get damaged again … 😕

Thanks Ski
Yes he was insured…the only thing is that the seller has to put in the claim with USPS, so I just finished putting in a claim with Paypal since that is how I made my payment, hopefully that will speed things up because I can’t bare to look at that griffin in that condition. 😕Marzena

Generally, with package insurance, you can claim for the value of the item, the replacement cost, or the repair cost, whichever is the lowest, to a maximum of the insured value. And with USPS, unlike with UPS, the claim can be paid to the sender OR the addressee.

But when I called USPS today they didn’t mention that to me, all they said was that the sender has to put in the claim and I assumed that he will get the insurance money for it. BUt I guess we will see what will happen.
Thanks tho.Marzena
August 25, 2007 at 8:17 pm #611505I don’t know much about claiming the insurance, though I did hear once that the post took the item away in many cases.
I hope all goes well and that I get the opportunity to repair him, since I know how much mmloda wanted him, and I’d hate for her to have to give him up now.

August 25, 2007 at 8:25 pm #611506Kyrins good at fixing grifins i know that 😀 He isn’t too bad don’t worry, its a great shame though when they arrive like this 🙁
August 26, 2007 at 12:06 am #611507It’s true. If you are the sender, and file a claim with USPS… you can choose who the money will go. The sender or the addressee. I had to file a claim one time because an ebayer said that they did not get the package I sent to her. Even though delivery confirmation showed that it was delivered to her address 2 days after I sent it! I think she was either lying about it, or it was swiped off her doorstep. But when I filed the claim, it gave me the option to send the money to her.
