You’ve painted some Kirins, some dragons, but quite a few griffin… My question is: Is that personnal preference or is that a request from the folks at Windstone Editions?
And if personnal preference, I’m curious to know why…
Okay, that was 2 questions 😉

Griffins were the first PYO released… they were in ‘beta’ testing since winter of 2004 I believe. This is when Melody first sent me a few to see if they could be brush painted. Then I got a bunch of them to test and write the tutorial, then a bunch more to try and paint to sell on eBay, then.. more griffins. And then more. 😆 They were out a long time before any of the other PYOs and they were what I used to write the tutorial/ learn to paint on. That’s why I did the most of them.
Then came the kirins. I’m not very good at them. I don’t know why. They’re wicked cute but something about the shape and size didn’t agree with my artistic sense. I can paint them, but I’m not as good at doing lots of details on them (I know how to detail feathers but the fur and scales on the little kirins baffle me) and I think that shows. If only they were bigger!
I’m also needing some practice for getting good results with paintbrushes on scales, so I’ve only done a few dragons. I really like them though. I just need to practice. I imagine that I’d have done more dragons if I hadn’t been moved to the big griffins. 🙂

I have loved every single one of the dragons you did, especially the one I had to sacrifice to the cause (getting my car 😆 )
I would LOVE to see more dragons by you. Even though I can’t currently afford one, I still enjoy very much seeing the beautiful color schemes you come up with.
May 15, 2007 at 3:38 am #577213I agree with LIH. I’d like to see more dragons done by you, Nam.
