I think I would take a stab at winning a Violet Petals Emp. I like bright, flashy stuff! 😉 😆
December 4, 2007 at 11:07 pm #642113The funny story with the Violetpetals dragon is that she started out nice, then was hideous when I finished her. Horrified, I tried to fix it (rather than start all over) and added the strange petal purple ‘tipping’ to her large lateral scales. So her most striking trait was the result of a bad paint experiment!
I don’t know how that would translate onto an emperor. The tipping only really looks good on the larger scales, and the emperor- for such a large dragon- has mostly smaller scales. The emperor’s texture also means that any blending on the individual scales (with exception of his belly scales) is lost to antiquing, since he has a bit of what I call ‘pinecone syndrome’ where his scales stick out, rather than being smoothed in an arc like on the PYO dragon or, for example, a spectral dragon. The detail work like that would be best on something like a spectral or riser, if I ever paint one.

For an emp, though, I really like Ski’s suggestion of black and gray and white. That would be striking.

seeing this on a larger scale…. WOW! 😯
Thats my 2 cents!
I’m having browser problems. Which one is this?? I’m getting a griffin which is obviously wrong.
Can you point it out on this page?
Violet Petals dragon… last picture on that page! I love it!

Well… I can dream! 😀

….dude, I know what you’re talking about with the small emperor scales, but I can still totally see how it would look in my mind…and I think it would be AWESOME. Just not quite the same as the petals PYO….

-J R R TolkienDecember 5, 2007 at 1:28 pm #642120Black, grey, and white would be awesome… especially with yellow eyes.
I would love to see a purplish and reddish dragon though. Gold detailing would look beautiful on that color combo. Eyes could be tricky. Probably yellow or red would work best… depending on the shades of colors used.
Either of them would be great, but I vote purple. 😀
December 5, 2007 at 4:22 pm #642121Seems like purple is in favor right now! Guess I’ll go basecoat an emperor and prep him for being purple. I don’t know if I’ll have time to finish him before I move but I’ll get crackin’!

I dunno what Melody and John will want me working on! I’m trying not to ‘compete’ with Melodys and Oly’s special pieces. Mine are a different style, but I’m trying not to step on toes. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comDecember 5, 2007 at 4:59 pm #642122woo hoo….purple….
that was what I was gonna say….I just didn’t get here…LOL
December 5, 2007 at 6:33 pm #642123Purple is great but can there be silver accents instead of gold??? We dont want him looking like a Lakers Dragon! 😀 Anyway I think that would be great…you could use some different shades of purple to accent him as well as perhaps a striking intense blue or green??? Green without making him look like Barney! LMAO 😀
Looking for White Dragons! Grail includes the White Secret Keeper!
December 5, 2007 at 7:17 pm #642124How about purple, maroon or Wine with red eyes or a turquoise in various shades with orange eyes?
December 5, 2007 at 8:43 pm #642125Yay, purple. And silver if you can, please. But I hope you hold off until after Christmas…I am soooooo broke. 😥
December 6, 2007 at 1:13 am #642126I’ve started on him and so far he’s very blue. These paint jobs always evolve on me in ways I cannot predict, so we’ll see where this one goes! I’m making him dark I think. I’m trying to keep away from reddish purples, because it’s very hard to keep red from turning pinkish, and I’d feel pretty bad making this emperor a girly color!! 😉
