I already asked her about funky eyes today….trying to get her to do an eye color experiment….LOLI voted for googley eyes.
I could experiment with eye color, maybe a mix of grey and blue or grey and lavender.. though usually the fired glass paint doesn’t mix together well. The colors tend to get muddy, and don’t turn out the color you’d expect.
The problem with our lavender eyes is that it isn’t a clear lavender, as it appears in the photoshopped silver dragon that PT kindly posted for us. Our real lavender eyes are a murky brownish lavender. I think it is sort of an interesting color, in its own weird way, but I sure wish we had a better lavender to use.

It’s not an issue for me, cause I still think light blue eyes will look better on this new Emperor anyway. That’s just my opinion though. But, I do like the straw too.

Yeah, the eyes are not liver colored… but have a strange tinge to them that comes off as slightly livery I guess. I can see what they are talking about. It just doesn’t look right.
Melody sent me eyes and I got them today! No purple/liver/lavendar color in this size yet, and the lightest blue is the one I already took a photo of.
However she did send me some dichroic eyes and I’ll stick my foot in my mouth. I didn’t like them until I saw them, but now that I’ve seen them in person they are pretty cool!
Essentially, those of you that have seen a spectral dragon in person (or have seen the male coiled dragon or any of the orientals in person), you know how the glass looks on those globes? It shifts and has a rainbow effect? That’s what these eyes do! But they have a black pupil of course. I admit that I did not like them from photos, but they are so much cooler in person that I’ve changed my mind. In photos the angle and lighting tends to give a darker ‘halo’ around the pupil, which makes the dragon in question look stoned. In person this effect appears only as a subtle shift in color and it does not look at all the same.
I really do like these eyes in this emperor, because from most angles they are a rich, reflective amber color (very similar to the straw color but a bit richer) however as you walk around the dragon, they shift to reddish or greenish… it’s very cool.
Please, again, ignore the poor photo. I’m afraid I can’t take good photos again until I can unearth my photo equipment from my storage unit.
The best part of these is that they glow at you from across the room- like a cat’s eyes do in low light (well… kinda the reverse of a cat’s eyes, since you don’t see the iris reflecting)
