I was thinking of doing that, but I haven’t even seen anyone over there yet. They must be hermits or something. I’m so used to having rowdy neighbors.

They cat get caught on things and hang the cat. I have been thinking about the chip but I try to keep all 4 of my kids inside so I’m not sure if I should go thru that expense

Collars are a great idea if your cat gets to go outside. There are special collars made for cats that either streatch or they come apart when they are yanked on. My Tigger was a roamer, he lost his collar at least one a week. I’ve never had a cat hung up by a collar. My two right now get very excited when I get the collars out. That means they can go outside. Since I live on a very busy corner I only will take them out on a leash. (Make sure you use a harness for a cat if you leash train them.)
January 23, 2007 at 6:20 pm #531128Bubs is like houdini with his collar. We put one one and in like 5 minutes it dissappears and is never to be seen again! Once he lost 7 ( or maybe more) collars in a month!

I tried to leash train my first one but when we walked outside she just sat down and would not move an inch. I think I had the harness on wrong
January 23, 2007 at 7:04 pm #531130Just remember they aren’t dogs. Most will not walk where you want to go. Romeo won’t go far, while Danny wants to go all over the place. If there is no one around. If someones around Danny will stay close to the door. (He was attacked by one of my neighbors.) My poor Danny wouldn’t hurt anyone. I don’t know why the jerk attacked him.
January 23, 2007 at 7:06 pm #531131that is horrible!!!
January 23, 2007 at 8:10 pm #531132a leashed cat is so undignified.
Drag0n… if they are not home I would sneak over there and remove the note. I would freak if someone entered my house while I was asleep… even if they had a reason. I am very glad you got your cat back! How nerve wracking… esp after all the recent problems. At least the story has a happy ending!
January 23, 2007 at 8:15 pm #531133When I first got my cats they were used to being outdoors. I didn’t want them wandering out into traffic. And I didn’t want them creating babies since they weren’t nutered at that time. That is why my boys were leashed. Now after how many years of being on leash they don’t know what to do when they are off leash. First thing they do is race for the door. They get to prowl the balcony when I’m at home. As long as they stay off the railing.
January 24, 2007 at 2:16 am #531134I do not think a cat on a leash is un dignified. I think it’s LOVE for you animal. This way they will not end up like drg0n’s cat
January 24, 2007 at 1:13 pm #531135I think the cat looks undignified walking on a leash. It is so beneath him.
January 24, 2007 at 5:27 pm #531136I think it is better then having your cat getting run over
